I have just started running seriously and am looking for a well illustrated book to help me towards the 2005 Marathon. Covering Stretching and basic training etc

I have got John Bingham and Jenny Hadfield's book:

Marathon Running for Mortals: An Ordinary Mortal's Guide to the Joy of Running or Walking a Marathon or Half-marathon

Not training for a marathon yet, but looking to do a half early next year and thought the book was easy to read and understand with not too much technical stuff.

John and Jenny's book is excellent. If you'd like something (a lot) more techincal I can recommend Lore of Running by Tim Noakes. It covers just about everything you could ever want but like I say, can be a bit technical in parts.

Thanks very much I'll have a look at both of them
