Rachel -

Chelmsford AC at Melbourn Park Atletic Centre.

Meet Tue & Thur 7 - 9pm

Enail mitchs@btinternet.com

Or if you go to 'URWFRC' and look for a thread called 'Herts & Essex URWFRC', there is some-one there that uses this club and may be of help.

Yes, Hips. I'm sure there are cowboys around. I would make a point though of being bloody rude back and making sure they realise how wrong they are, even if it just makes me feel better in doing so :) These people can't get away with it.

I have the option of 4 running clubs in my area and all of them welcomed me with opening arms and a friendly manner. For me it was hard to choose which one! I think I made the right choice though.

Am sure (and hope) this would be the case in other areas of the UK too.

Suppose you could even go to a local race and see what options you have

Plodding hippo, name and shame the club please. Thats disgusting what they said to you, but i can assure you that clubs like this are in a very very small minority. Dont be put off by these morons!

Skip - if you live in Fulham, why not team up with the Serpentiners in Hyde Park? It's only a few stops along the District Line.

They have a great website (www.serpentine.org.uk) and seem like a very helpful and sociable lot. I'd join them if I lived nearer.

Clubs in South West London include the windmilers in Wimbledon.

They train at Wimbledon Rugby club on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and do a long run on Sundays at the windmill in Wimbledon Common.

(By the way I don't belong to them as I can't train on Tuesdays and Thursdays)
