Can't stand Terry Wogan but the six youngsters who have been taking turns to pedal a ricks haw from Llandudno to London in a week are amazing. One has cerebral palsy, another's had a kidney transplant, and a young lad with glaucoma. I'm with you Westie on the overseas aid, still can't get my head round kiddies dying from preventable diseases in Africa though :0(

Mr Tubs has been creosoting anything that looks remotely wooden. Megs has been lunged, strapped and is now out chilling with Fling. Stables mucked out, swept, water done, veteran mix soaked for tea ( for Fling ). Goats cheese on toast for lunch with ketchup :0) nom nom nom :0)

(((DL))) I feel your pain!

I'm afraid that I forgot to vote . In my defence, I had nothing through the letterbox to gve me a clue as to who was standing or why (Yes, I understand that the money they had to stump up didn't even get them a mailshot). It seems as if this is another area in which we are adopting USA ways .

Another grey day here, was glad to get aquagym and Tescos over and get home.

(((WIN)))

WAIST well xxx

((((Amadax))) and (((Far fars))))

Similar situation here. Colleagues father had a stroke at the end of half-term and was in hospital for a few days, until they decided that he wasn't responding to any treatment, so they withdrew the antibiotics, (although they changed their minds for 24 hours when there was a slight improvement) maintaining painkillers. Died peacefully soon after.

Can you not get a ruler App for the iPod?

16/11/2012 at 18:24

I get cross with parents who think they can buy stuff when really what they need is to spend time and talk to their children.

One last year didn't know her numbers. Mother said there's an app on the ipad, etc. No, you need to walk round and point out house numbers, the number on the bus, at the shops etc.

And one reasonably intelligent mother was telling me about her kids, they have this DVD on after their tea, then go to their rooms and watch their own films. Fair enough, she did go up (she says) and turn off at 7:30 when she wanted them to go to sleep. What happened to bedtime story, quality time?

(and you know our parents are not exactly time-poor with high powered executive jobs!)

Grrrr! thank goodness there's a soapbox around when you want one...

PS I've entered a race! I haven't actually run since the JW relay ... keep being a bit busy this week despite good intentions. Still, it's "only" the Santa Dash - Mr P is in too this year! and Pippette, but she's done it a few times already.

Funny enough that crossed my mind as well XB!

All you fans of CIN.  I've just heard a BBC radio presenter say she so excited as she's  just seen stars like Zoe Ball and Susan Boyle.

Stars?

Another phenomonon I've clocked is the  caring mother pushing a buggy with a child in, whilst mummy earth is devoting all her attention to her mobile phone call totally ignoring her child.

My own step grandson has a laptop, phone, XBox, Wii, Nintendo DS and all the games but shoes with holes in.

I'm off to read my book.

evening

I'm with you on the CIN stuff and the wonderful caring parenting that is going on in this world of ours. I really shudder and the sheer commercialism that is the alter on which the god of greed sits. This time of year of course he puts on his red suit and wears a fluffy white beard!

I'd step down of this soap box, but I'm too tired!

I'm off to Brizzle tomorrow on a course, then to Swindon to see my step mother. I need to remember to have lots of dosh to be able to get back into Wales!

I hope your damp course got sorted DL, specially with all this wet stuff being chucked at us! It's persisting down at the moment, which is not exactly a bad thing, the fireworks started earlier - the rain soon put a stop to them!

One step.

9 years ago today I took my last step as a smoker and my first step as a runner.

I'm celebrating 9,274 miles of smiles. A few tears. Some cake. Oh, and a smattering of swear words.

Morning Tribe

Another late night

Another broken night due to some  yoof outside my house chatting and pinging /dinging/ ringing their phones / gadget thingies at 0130

Being such a ridiculously light sleeper has some advantages but one heck of a lot of drawbacks too!

any road - up bright and early and it's..........saturday  yaaayyy

Off for communal (6) dog walk and then brekkies at pal's house

17/11/2012 at 07:25

Morning each,

It's chilly here - the weather and HL.  I've plainly done something wrong, not sure exactly what at the mo.

XB, well done on the tabs and the plodding. I assumed you were a lifelong runner and healthy type. Superb.

Not sure woss happening with GD today, her parents are still being pains.

Coffee?

17/11/2012 at 07:43
Morning. Tea Nogs please
No running or anything here. Been at FIL flat each morning trying to sort it. By afternoon I'm shattered, not helped by poor sleep
Family visiting from Wales today, staying at my parents so will see them later then visit FIL this evening.

Marshalling marathon tomorrow, can I count that as cross training?
17/11/2012 at 08:02

Definitley count that as cross training Amanda!

Congratulations XB! Very well done indeed sir - you are a model for us all, and a constant inspiration to me to persist (even though I actually manage not to quite often)

((((((((((amanda, Jenni, Snaily, XB and the rest of you going through tough times)))))))))

Today is our 7 year anniversary 7 years!! So today I shall mostly be ignoring the parkrun, and spending all my time reminiscing and doing cheery things with Mr Daffs
