I get cross with parents who think they can buy stuff when really what they need is to spend time and talk to their children.
One last year didn't know her numbers. Mother said there's an app on the ipad, etc. No, you need to walk round and point out house numbers, the number on the bus, at the shops etc.
And one reasonably intelligent mother was telling me about her kids, they have this DVD on after their tea, then go to their rooms and watch their own films. Fair enough, she did go up (she says) and turn off at 7:30 when she wanted them to go to sleep. What happened to bedtime story, quality time?
(and you know our parents are not exactly time-poor with high powered executive jobs!)
Grrrr! thank goodness there's a soapbox around when you want one...
PS I've entered a race! I haven't actually run since the JW relay ... keep being a bit busy this week despite good intentions. Still, it's "only" the Santa Dash - Mr P is in too this year! and Pippette, but she's done it a few times already.
