That sounds lovely XB, what time should I arrive!?

Oh dea have some {{{{{{{Amandax}}}}}}}

oh dear ((((((((((((((amanda))))))))))))) Deep breaths

Podds - everyone's right - you shouldn't have to miss out on your holidays! Perhaps occasionally NOT keeping a lid on it at home is the answer... Don't let resentment build up tooooo far...

Forget skiing - I reckon you should do a cycle tour of the waisters for your holiday Sociable, fun, you'd have an absolutely great time, get to be proper nosy, get plenty of exercise (and a lift when you wanted it) - what could be better? Reckon we cover a decent span of the country too between us

20/11/2012 at 15:41

Absolutely, Podds! I'm determined to improve my IQ as quickly as possible on this basis

FP---good to see you! We'd been wondering where you were. Sounds like some good shopping there in the FP household And I read somewhere that  that CBA feeling is part of the season: same thing that makes animals hibernate. Or something. And yes, the Pieten (there are lots of them) are of course escorting the Saint :-

Sluggie, great news that you were able to get out for a spin! Hope the back feels OK tomorrow. Any more news on that new subcutaneous pain control thing??

Well cycled too to Nogs and the Meldy one

Rossie and I had a nice outing, r/w of course, but rather chuffed to find it was actually 6.5 km. At least things are moving again!

And here's a nice note to end on, courtesty of C2. Look here:

(sorry linky thing doesn't seem to work) xxx

Sorry, dunno where that came from!

Podds, LOL at your account of midlife weight gain. I'm sold on the theory, for sure ))

I am ALSO sold on Daffs' fantastically brilliant idea that you should make a cycle tour of the WAISters. You could easily pop across the channel and come this way---great cycle paths, flat countryside, and a WAISter welcome waiting, what's not to love?

(((((((((((((((((((((((Amandax))))))))))))))))

Oh dear, sounds like deep, cleansing breaths are in order.

XB, scuse me for asking, but are you still eating meat and dairy? If not, you need  grains as well as beans for the protein. I know grains are carbs, but beans lack several amino acids which grains contain, so legumes + grains = complete protein. It's the basis of all veggy cuisines. (Mexico: beans + maize; India: lentils + rice; China: soya + rice; etc etc)) Just a thought.

Iced 14 cakes, marzipanned another 4, about to start making crystallised peel. Someone gave me a bergamot last year, had absolutely no idea what to do with it so I crystallised the peel, cut it into matchsticks and dipped in dark chocolate. Screams of delight from Chuggs family so I've promised to make some for Christmas with oranges, lemons and grapefruit. Christmas better be good this year!!!!

evening

I've just had morrocan chicken and some of XB's lentil hash - delish (I did add some veg stock powder to the carrot and onion. I have enough left to take for my lunch tomorrow

I don't think I'll make a cake this year, tis only I who eats it, and the pud. So my intelligence would be expanding to MENSA proportions . I think I will commision Messrs M + S to make me a small one.

20/11/2012 at 18:52

Rant away Podds. It's a good place to do it. (apart, of course from it all being freely and perpetually available on the internet ...). I know I certainly have and felt better for it.

Tsk! taking himself off to Siberia! I suppose it beats under the patio.

I've been re-formatting the Christmas play - for some reason when I scanned it in and edited it to have my own stage directions yesterday, it saved as A3, which then, of course, jammed in the school printer. I've come home to fiddle in Word as my version is rather better than school's and it works!

20/11/2012 at 18:53

And according to Radio 2 on FB - or the comments - there's a little triangle next to your petrol pump light/symbol in the car, which points to the side your filler cap is on!!! All these years, I never knew that!

(this has been a public service announcement ...)

Thats a well known one Pippi .. well, I knew anyway

(i think it has now been disproven but may well have been true of some makes at some stage)

eta: It used to be thought as well the arm of the pump on the icon pointed to the side of the fuel tank

Bu88er, sod, snot, tits, bum and fart.

Apologies for the potty mouth but today, my knee has been giving me serious grief.  It's been on borrowed time since my surgery 4 or 5 years back.  I was warned that it would give out at some time, I just hope this isn't it (it means a knee replacement)

I have been known to drive lots of different cars for a fleet management company,- Audi,VDub, Skoda, Nissan,Daimler etc - when I needed to work out which side the filler cap was on I'd flip the button in the cab and look for the flap in the wing mirrors (for the Waister ladies, those are things that poke out from the doors)

Anyone seen my tin hat and stab proof vest?
