Exactly XB - makes you wonder doesn't it?

Well to lighten all this mood a bit and in honour of the Mouldy one's special day here is a little story from yesterday

DH - Deputy Head

DH - Oh hi Podds, some of the pupils who sat the exam in room 24 have told me they were rather distracted...

Me - really? I wasn't aware of any issues and did check up on them regularly - what was the problem........

DH - apparently there's a large p*nis on the board directly above where the start and finish times were written...............

So off I toddle and sure enough there's a large p*nis on the board with next to it the message "Hello I'm Mr P*nis - if you feel brave enough you can suck me if you want......." (apologies for any offence)

Unfortunately it also took industrial strength cleaner to get if off the board!!

And these, my lovely WAISTers, are the children who hold our future in their hands.....

On that note I shall love you and leave you!

11/01/2013 at 10:24

Whoa, the WAISters have gone radical! We have people advocating a totally non-capitalist way of life (how will you ever get the economy going again, Mr Cameron asks), upstanding running group leaders appearing dressed only in a party hat (oooer, missus!), and people working in school decorated with (what the students must think is pretty racy) porn**!  But first, the important business:

Have a fab day and a great year!

FWIW, I think today's 2 topics are related. I've lived on a pittance, and had a blast. (Most important rise EVER was the one where I had enough money so I could  pay 50 p. extra every week for a 'service wash', ie someone else would put my washing and drying through at the laundrette while I was at work. Total bliss!!) Life changes, with three kids, older rellies to look after and a determination not to be dependent on kids later. But I know I could live on very little if I had to, and I appreciate the things I have. People who never had that are missing something important. They totally miss the pleasure of making do, and the thrill of FINALLY getting something you've saved for.

Which ties into the mollycoddling bit. Podds is SO RIGHT: it is NO kindness to kids to give them a totally unrealistic idea of how they fit into the world. I've seen such a lot of kids who really get whapped when they get into the real world, and don't understand what went wrong.  It's laziness and selfishness by parents and teachers, who don't want to deal with the rebellion and anger---but it's bunking off what they owe they kids.

(Dusts soapbox and leaves out for next occupant.)

**Not that I mind good biology. Think I told that when the male Chuglets went off to uni I bought them several packs of condoms and checked that they knew how to use them. 'Don't be silly, mum' they said 'we learned on Percy.' Percy??? Turns out Percy the P'enis was a lifesize, purple model employed for these useful lessons. Must work, cos the teen pregnancy level here is very low

And having succeeded in lowering the tone of this conversation through the floor, I shall go and do some washing!  Happy day all.

Oh, and to finish my cultural contribution, if you think your family photos are ouch-making, look at some of these:

11/01/2013 at 10:44

Percy the purple penis? Crikey! But oh dear Podds. Was it you who drew it?

Giggling at the dogs having a bigger bank account than you

Sorry Podds, was lying in bed all tired and waffly and couldn't stop once I'd started

*takes soap box and builds a useful cupboard out of it*

11/01/2013 at 10:51

*stumbles into room which was believed to be WAISTer lounge only to find it full of naked paople and artistic impressions of male genitalia*

*worries that it appears not only to be our futures that the young folk are holding in their hands - reaches for the sanitizer*

*wanders out again dazed and confused*

Oh and Happy Birthday Meldy - have to say the old ways of celebrating with the Dutch ensemble was slightly classier than what seems to be on offer today

11/01/2013 at 12:08

And no it wasn't me who drew it although we were all impressed that the writing was grammatically correct with perfect spelling which certainly narrows down the field somewhat at our place!!

If I had drawn it, it would have been much smaller

chuggs - there are certainly some photos there that people are going to regret years down the line!

Happy birthday Meldy

LOL Podds, school standards are raising then if the spelling was correct

What strange conversations going on today!  I worry about money, MrS is very good with money so I leave it to him.  But we have proven that we can survive on one wage having done so recently.  It was quite scary, but we did it.  Now we're on 2 wages we're throwing money into savings in case he is out of work again.  And we're still managing to decorate at the same time by doing eveything ourselves.  We could still spend a lot less though.

Chuggs what cringeworthy pics

##clears throat##

I only bleedin ran again!  I used the C25K app and it was so easy 3r/3w for 30mins.  in fact I could have done another round again but am a bit busy today, but next week i'll look to do 2 circuits of it.

HC in the cattery, shopping shopped, prescription picked up, car filled  up, B&Q done, cleaning done, running done, lunch done.  Now have to shower, iron and pack a few things for the weekend.

Looks like dodgy weather for the weekend in Stoke.  Not sure I'll get my 30min Janathon in but will try where I can.

Right better get moving again

Hope all goes well in Stoke Snaily if I don't seem you before you go

Here's today's common sense puzzler.

The two lights controlled by one switch in the back porch work fine. Then neither of them work. The switch has a fuse in it.

I'm no sparky but I managed to work it out in double quick time.

Here's another for you. Who thinks I'm a mug?

Prudential House insurance, that's who. Last years premium £367. Renewal premium £672. Best available on Compare the Furry £185.

Percy The Purple Penis

Nice bit of alliteration, wonder if I can use it at school !!

Well, I've come home to news from my old school mucker that there is to be a marathon and half marathon in the old home town of Shrewsbury in June

So I'm off to enter the half

You never know ...

Meldy! Is this the day you are going to see your friend the good cook?

but on a sadder note ...

Just learned our neighbour died yesterday. All feeling rather sad as he was a lovely man - used to give us home grown veg and fish he'd caught. He'd been in hospital since just before Christmas and we were just talking about him when his d-in-law called round to tell us.

11/01/2013 at 18:56

ahh Pippi, that's sad

11/01/2013 at 19:16

but  to you thinking about Shrewsbury

I've been looking at the route, I hate Map my run, doesn't name all the streets so trying to visualise where it goes!

I was a little full
