Thank you,

I can run 6k about 40 mins, but i have had illness & injury which is REALLY hampering any quality training....struggling with motivations, plus I am worried i am only able to run this far???.

Can you get better, or can an indiviudual get stuck at one distance

When you say injury, can you be a bit more specific? is it from the running?

how long have you been running and have you followed something like a couch to 5k program?

6k in 40mins does sound like your going too fast for building up, this could be why your getting injured as your going faster than your body can adapt.

The best way to get injured is to go too fast too far too soon

As odd as slowing down may seem, slow down, take it easy, let your muscles adapt then worry about speed. getting there is more important than how fast!

But to actually answer your question yes you will get better with care and a good plan, and no you wont get stuck at a set distance, as your endurance and muscles improve, distance will go up. If you go too fast too soon, youll get injured and distance will drop between recovery. Simples

Anyone on here will help you, so chat away

Thank you cheesy...I have shin splint type injuries billaterally , but an old nagging hip stiffness and pain since teenage years, which doesnt help!!

I have been running since new year 2011. I have been following 5 or 10 k training plans ( on here).

I will try to slow right down.... I try to run 3-4 times per week, is that enough?

Thanks for the advice

Chester half is in May anyway! I did look at it but it's the weekend I'm in London. continuing (that's a hard word to type - at least 3 goes!) continuing my effcient weekend, I've booked tickets to see 'Life and Death in Pompeii and Herculaneum' on that day - cheaper and slightly less tiring!

Cheddar? - is Cheesy doing that one? (sorry, bit slow on the uptake tonight)

24/02/2013 at 21:11

jeez the weekend is nearly over already

there are some amazing runs going on in here, are you all training for something

Daffs and Roni well done (Cheesy, can you pass the message on to Roni, Ta!)

Decorating is going great, this weekend we have painted the living room, booked the carpet, picked a sofa, put the fireplace back together without chipping it.  we are on target for completion and training to start in April (sooner if poss)

Mr MCkenna seems to have left me this weekend

Oh and who the hec are Train???
