Coniston for me. I have done it twice before and whilst I wouldn't call it 'demanding' it is undulating but its one of those where the scenery takes your mind off the challenge of the course. Great pub across the road from the finish line for a swift one after!

Already sent my entry for Helsby off. Someone did say it fills up very early so be warned. Ironbridge has to be my local 1/2 so I'd better do that one too.

I really fancy Coniston, though walking there used to kill me when I was 17!!!
Isnt it a fell run??

Dont think marathon followed by half marathon 6 weeks later is particularly si=ensible for a beginner!!

Helsby's pretty close, but would require a complete change in my training. Would have to up the length of my longest runs very significantly. How late can I leave it to decide whether or not to enter, on past experience - anyone?
If successful, then Ironbridge - maybe.

Thanks BK, delighted to see both Helsby and Coniston made the list, I'm down for both so it looks like I might finally get to meet some forumites in the flesh, which I'll really look forward to. Inverness would be great if I could sell it as a weekend youth hostelling to the family, will have to decide nearer the time.

Pleased to see you're keeping your promise Ratbag! Don't be scared of Coniston, it's 14 miles not a half so you've every excuse to forget your normal 1/2m times anyway.

Go on Mike; just think of it as 53*400 m with no recoveries.

Almost certainly Salisbury, possible Ironbridge but its the day after I return from a skiing trip!!! Maybe I can catch a lift.
Is it possible for organisers to extend the entry limits to races if they know they have a big demand? How/ Why do they set entry limits ?

Will do Helsby.

Would like to do Salibury, but if not will do either Ironbridge or Coniston which ever is the most popular.

p.s. 1st time using forum and have only done 2 10k races so far this year (only started running in Feb 02)

Salisbury Plain will be very special - very vibey place.
I shall be up for Consiton/Ironbridge too.

Salisbury I believe is in Wiltshire (you're probably thinks of Canterbury - Cathedral thing)

Coniston I would imagine Lake District.

Salisbury is better for me being about an hour down the A303. Not sure if clashes with the Camberley halfM tho' - wouldn't want to miss that having set pbs in the past two years, I should go for the hat-trick.
