Just a thought (inspired by the imminent end of the world date 21st December...), if/when human race vanishes, which species do you think would take over the world?

My guess would be rats.

ants..........i read today that ants can survive in a microwave as they can avoid the rays

But there wouldn't be any microwaves.

It's gotta be the age old theory of cockroaches, they can survive anything!!

Although if truth be told evolution would take place (eventually of course) and who knows what would become

I'd like it to be bunnies!

Dolphins.  I might start a new conspiracy theory that they're already at it, and have been responsible for the rising sea levels for years.  Not sure how they're doing it, but then that's their idea I guess.

Cockroaches will be the dolphins' lieutenants on land, with the owls in the air.

Elli the rats need humans to feed them and keep them cosy!

Dolphins have been secretly controlling scientists, politicians and high ranking military officers via telepathy in order to get them to develop special machines that have been placed in strategic locations in the Arctic and Antarctic to melt the polar icecaps and raise the sea level to the point that large parts of land are flooded.

celebrities!

I think it will be chavs. They have already sent some to our planet and mingle amongst us, trying to blend in. They think we havent noticed their rediculous behaviour but we have. We need to exterminate them before they get chance to take over the world

18/12/2012 at 12:16

we dont have chavs. up here they are called neds.

i admire them in a way. or not admire....envy. i envy them. they just do what they want.

Are you telling me that not all Scottish people are NEDs ??

18/12/2012 at 12:29

not all. the duke of argyll isn't. and me.

but apart from that.

Assuming that the end of the world does away with only the humans, then rats will (after they've eaten any dead humans) start to decline, as their food supply will dwindle without our waste.

Cockroaches too.

So I guess it will be the dolphins!

18/12/2012 at 12:39

cockroaches will never dwindle, they dont need us to survive, they have been around for millions of years!!

dolphins do sound like a good choice, but only downfall is land??

why not the humble termite? they are pretty much bombproof?

18/12/2012 at 13:01

Yes, cockroaches have been around a long time, but many of them live in human habitation now, eating what we drop down the back of the cooker.

Without that food supply, the numbers would reduce.  I'm not suggesting they would disappear, but the numbers would drop as the food supply dropped.
