Annoyed.............

Just been looking at entering a Spartan Race. The price was advertised as £45 which for that type of race is par for the course.

Looking at the race information it says that car-parking is £3 on the day. Irritating but I know that some races charge in thsi way for parking, why they can't add onto the entry cost is beyond me.

What really annoyed me was that when I got to the payment page they added VAT a further £9 and a f***ing booking fee of £3.70.

Now if the cost of the race is going to be £57.70 why don't they say that. As it is they role as race organisers to take bookings, otherwise known as race entries, why charge separately for them.

Had they have advertised the race as £55 or even £60 they'd have got my race entry all confirmed - as it is I'll have to think about it.

That sort of thing really annoys me too - that's why I hate Ryanair!

If I found all that nonsense on a race entry, I'd not bother.

Same goes for booking theatre tickets.

The thing with Spartan is that VAT won't apply to all entrants.

The Sparta Race in Antwerp is: 25€ and that's it (and I thought that it was expensive!).

What do you mean?

@Dark Vader - if you're from the US, you won't not have to pay VAT.

I can understand parking being extra as long as you an opt out of it.  Entrants can car share or be coming by other means etc.  But a booking fee and VAT on top?  I wouldn't bother and email them telling them how misleading I found the process.

BDB - Guess what I did after ranting on the forum?

The Spartans were the nazis of the 8th century BC. Avoid it out of principle.

@Johnny Blaze - the spartans were rock 'ard, though. I've seen 300, and I'd definitely want to be on their side in a squabble.

They'd probably bum you after they'd won though.

There's nothing like a post-squabble cuddle.
