Anyone else planning to do the London half marathon?

What is he up to?

I think Mo Farah is a fabulous runner but wtf...... Either do London or not but openly stating you're only go to do half? What is that about? For goodness sake, a nice fun runner could have had that place

Agree. Someone like df3 could have had that place.

I'm all for it. All I have to do now is finish and I'll have beaten mo.

How did he get a place they were sold out ages ago.???

Plus I hope he doesn't get a medal! or a TV interview afterwards BLOODY lightweight !

What he hasn't said is he is doing the second half.

Nice bit of publicity all around and he's quite a skinny bloke so I'm sure they can squeeze him in a starting pen somewhere.

If he did the full marathon he'd be expected to go out and win it and I imagine that isn't really part of his training schedule. This way he does half and if it isn't going well he can turn into a happy, smiley, wavy event rather than soiling himself outside an East London office block on national tv

It's a bit of an odd choice. Is he starting with the elites or with the herd?
I wondered if he wanted to get the experience of racing with the elites in a marathon, maybe to practice pacing and fuelling?, but would that be allowed if he isn't going to complete the whole distance?
Hmmm!

I might paint my arms orange so that you can see my Mobot properly from the Champs start on the telly.

Surely some bright coloured arm warmers woudl be easier than painting yourself?

Just paint on an entire running kit... It would weigh almost nothing but I'd recommend using Dry Fit paint

i'm sure on the day he'll want to keep going to get his medal.

Now there's a thought!

i read somewhere that he was "pacing", which doesn't really make sense since the pacers usually hang in until mile 20 or so, and are just as quick as Mo over the half distance. Perhaps he'll be pacing the other british runners, or perhaps wherever i heard that it was just wrong.

Either way, i'm not really that bothered how he does given that he's not running the whole thing. I'll be very interested to see how he gets on in 2014, I reckon Steve Jones' record might be broken then, but whether Mo wins it in his debut will depend on which Kenyans turn up.

Running the first half in 2013 is obviously just a publicity stunt, but not sure why either Mo or the London Marathon have gone for it, as neither really needs the publicity.

I sense an oppurtunity to sell t shirts labled 'I beat Mo'

I wonder if he'll have DNF beside his name on the results.
