I would have thought that it was the 'little boy who lives down the lane', was the one being marganilised here!

The black sheep has the power, because it has something that everyone wants!

I mean, why was that little boy confined to 'down the lane', what had he done?

........in all seriousness, this changing traditional rhymes in the name of Political Correctness is the world gone mad. Besides, is it not giving the youngsters messages that there may be something wrong with 'Black' if we are avoiding even mentioning it?

Well quite. There are black people, there are black boards and there are black sheep. There are also black berries and black currants. Surely deciding that 'black sheep' may cause offence, thus suggesting that black people ought to consider themselves comparable to sheep, is the biggest insult of all?

Rainbow sheep sounds nicer than black sheep though. Imagine it, a lovely rainbow coloured sheep - no wonder people would want its wool.

It's a rhyme, there's deliberate illiteration and if you change it to rainbow, it just sounds cr*p.

FFS, are kids going to be growing up thinking that there are rainbow sheep in the field? What colour are sheep naturally? Brown, white & black.

Grrrr, I hate this political correctness b*llox.

an awful lot of this so-called "PC gone mad" stuff is actually urban legend. There was one recently that tried to make us believe we couldn't use the term "brainstorm" in deference to loonies*.
Utter piffle with no foundation.

*shameless and deliberate, yes.

Rainbow coloured sheep?

The "brainstorm" re "loonies" may have been a made-up example, but there has been a rumpus about it with regard to peeps with epilepsy. Or more to the point - people worried about offending them.

One of the leading Epilepsy organisation in the country did a survey of peeps with epilepsy and the vast majority thought it was PC gone mad.

Another example of where the peeps who are supposed to be offended don't actually mind in the slightest.

Actually, you do already get Rainbow Coloured Sheep - but only in tupping season!

We've just had this very same conversation. Apparently, Rams are made to wear this special rucksack type garment which is filled with special sheep dye. When the Ram mounts a Ewe, the rucksack deposits some of the dye on the Ewe's back, therefore producing Rainbow Colour Sheep, and a few weeks later, little lambs :o)

no no no, far from it, just a bit easy, assuming every ram has a different colour dye!
