cheese & beans in a spud yes. But mixing cheese on toast with beans is a sin. One slice of beans, one cheese is good though. Asked for baked potato & cheese or beans n US recently, and they gave strange looks.. They just think its a side dish Is it a UK thing?

My recovery fuel on return tonight was though, baked potato, poached eggs, 1 toast & lots of beans. Oh 2 bacon also.

Baked beans with jalapenos is a good combination.

As a student I'd sometimes have a cheap meal if beans mixed with pasta. Made a change from beans on toast.

My brother only ate baked beans cooked with about 1/4 pack of butter stirred in then loads of ketchup on top.

Another vote for beans on toast with marmite. Totally scrummy. Don't need the cheese.

I like to get a tin with a tin of stewed steak. Cook em both together with a couple of slices of buttered bread. Yummo.

I've had baked beans 3 times this week because of this thread. Tinned lazy beans tho'. I've made my own in the past, but it's so easy to open a tin after a run.

My bean research so far:

Heinz organic - good
Whole Earth organic - good
Waitrose organic - horrible

Any other recommendations for good brands or does it have to be Heinz always?

I always get heinz - when I have bought other brands the beans are sometimes hard!

Satay baked beans on toast.

Stir in some hot chili sauce or dried chilli flakes, Soy sauce and smooth peanut butter. Never tried it with coconut milk to get the full Satay experience.

Don't think I've ever tried any other but Heinz beans.
I've now discovered the "snap pots" and they are excellent, hassle free and quick... and perfect for one!
Not sure how environmentally friendly they are though as I don't think you can recycle the pots in normal green bin.
