pop in for a chat or some home baking , gin served after 6.00pm
Lucky escape there Blisters.
I've been in the sea this morning. It's been a while since I've been in the sea as most of my OW swimming has been in the river recently. It felt colder, but I think that was probably because it was quite windy rather than water temperature. I was faster than the girl that is usually slightly faster than me. Hopefully that means that I am improving rather than that she was struggling with the cold. It was her first proper swim of the season without a wetsuit and she does feel the cold.
Should I say 'morning' or 'afternoon'? I'm having to scroll down very gently with this new layout as it does strange things to my eyes otherwise
I may possibly get out for a run this weekend having been very lazy all week. Have even had a nap every single evening so far!
Anybody interested in doing Legends next year? I'm thinking of booking a team of 10 and if I do it before Monday then it is only £20 per person. After that the price goes up. I have about 4 people interested so far so can't decide whether to take the risk that we will get enough people.
Details are http://notoriousnightruns.com/legends.html
I think that I just read that S-Caz and her mate were in the sea WITHOUT a wetsuit.
I'm decorating with more clothes on than that!.
You'd certainly not be trying that sort of malarkey in the North Sea at the moment. We had a shower of hailstones during parkrun this morning. It was about 5 mins before the first finisher so I took cover in my car.
Did my own little 2.5 mile bimble when I got home, just round the village. 1min 26 faster than I was on Tuesday even though my legs felt leaden at the start. I will try 4 tomorrow and see if it all still holds together. I'm tempted to get enthusiastic but best wait to see if the previously broken bits remain unbroken.
There were loads of us in the sea Blisters, but only two of us without wetsuits. We managed about 30 min and were in for teh same length of time as the neoprene crowd. TP, I've never swam in hailstones, but it sounds interesting. I might have to try that sometime.
I've had pizza and yoghurt for lunch.
No significant weather here today. Large One was dead keen to help with the decorating of our bedroom, and you can't beat a volunteer. We put in a full day, and even the boss was surprised about the progress that was made. Considering that I had to work at her pace, it was quite an out-turn. Quality wise, she was on the money too. She's only doing it so that she can get permission to decorate her own bedroom. We'd accepted the principle, with a veto on ridiculously dark colours. I think that she's negotiated her choice anyway.
Progress: ceiling x1 coat, walls x1 coat, gloss x 1 We may get away with 1 coat of gloss. The walls are going to be sponge dabbed, and I had a play with some of the colours that we have in the residue pots on a trial area. Just think of wallpaper without the paper.
I carved a block print leaf pattern, but that didn't work. Maybe a potato would be better!
Good morning. I really shouldn't be up and posting but like to see how everyone is. Seems every one is still in bed or out doing good stuff. Have a wedding to go to today so I really should be doing other stuff.
bye bye for now.
First sea swim of the day complete. Warming up with a pot of tea before I am back in again this evening.
We've had a bit of sun today but still had to divert our run due to floodwater!
Scream first SOLB, you'll feel better. Then run.
TMouse, hope you ave a happy wedding.
I remember SCaz, you live down, deep down into the South West don't you? Surrounded by sea. If I drive for and hour and a half I can get to Weston super Mud. There are a couple of big lakes nearby though that permit OW, if it's organised. Another swim lesson tonight. I'll try and take less water with it.
CP, happy man Nice little runs USB, B, TP. Not sure I'll get the chance.
Yes please SOLB.
Blisters, I'm dead central on the south coast. I actually live within 5 min walk of the sea, but that part is mudflats so I have to drive about 20-30 min to get to my nearest beach that I can swim from.
It looks like there are several lakes you can swim in that don't charge, but then I'm not exactly sure where you live and I've not looked in that much detail. You are failrly land locked when it comes to the sea, I agree. Also several lidos if you are just after acclimitisation (although I haven't looked to see which are heated) but they won't help with OW experience.
Sod tea, can I have a gin? Tonic & a wedge of lime, plenty ice.
Back from my mums, quick change and caught the train into town. Got some more stuff for my hols and a couple of books. Food shopping done and ratatouille in the oven to have later with some pasta.
I have sacked the domestics in favour of flumping. Ironing and floor dusting can be done tomorrow night.
