I've just heard "Echo Beach" on an ad, everyone loves it, can't stand it myself...any more?

I think you'll find those who have an office job that find it boring can relate to the song

Ok it's not a classic in the old sense but seems to get a lot of air time

I love Echo Beach

There aren't any that spring to mind but I do have a pathological hatred of cover versions -  except for "Hurt by Johnny Cash which was better than the original.

I always find with covers that I prefer the one I hear first.I'm probably the only one who prefers All Saints version of Under the bridge, rather than the Red Hot Chilli peppers one.

I find their stuff all to sound the same and a right old dirge.

Anything by Whitney Houston, especially that one.

Ah yes, melisma, about as much use to music as a prostitute is to the pope.

Anything by Celine Dion. Shudder.

All those latter day Johnny cash covers are superb.  The reason I hate Echo beach so much is that it's supposed to be so cool...Celine and Whitney and their ilk are all so cheesey anyway.

I wouldn't call any of the songs listed above 'classics'.  I think of classics as songs like I Heard It Through The Grapevine, Dock of the Bay, My Girl, Sex Machine, One Nation Under A Groove etc etc.

The ones listed above are just popular with certain people.
