Do you like your name?

I like my name (Gareth) - good Welsh name. Also doesn't really rhyme with anything for insults. Parents call me Gaz and friends usually by nickname(s) so only really work colleagues for me as well.

I like my name very much.  Parents decided to break away from the generations-old tradition of naming son after father / daughter after mother.

Who else chose not to change their surname when they married?  I was (and still am) really surprised by the number of people who asked, "Why not?",  as though I was doing something unthinkable!

Hi Nurse Ratched, I've not changed my name to my married name. I would but after talking to hubby - it just makes more sense to keep my maiden name as it's simplier and easier to spell than his (it's very typical belgian).

You know what's freaky, when I started school aged 4, the kid sat next to me was also called Emmett

Where was that, West Virginia in the 1880s? He wasn't also your cousin, was he?

I have a weird name and no-one ever gets it right but I quite like it for its unusual-ness. Always wonder what it would be like to have a name that other people had and to hear it called but not to you. I think that would be strange. Can't imagine how often all the Johns must turn round when someone else is being shouted at across a pub...

Emmet is quite common over here (I know at least 3 or 4) - it must be an Irish thing.

I like my name but I don't like it when people decide to spell it how they think it should be spelt.

I like mine because I can be two different people. At work I'm Amanda and it fits, if I don't know you that's how I will introduce myself and I actually like being called it. But family and friends tend to call me Mandy, if they get that far, it's normally Mand.
