But the splits are not identical. They had one to three seconds difference in them. How could it replicate itself in an almost way.

If the splits arent identical then one person couldnt have carried two chips ?
It seems the results for Manchester are verrry dodgy. I hope they can fix it or there will be a lot of unhappy runners around.
How hard can it be to time a race ?

One chip on one foot and one on the other could have accounted for the difference.

and the other chips which were sometimes a few seconds apart.

David is an IT specialist and explained last time how it was impossible for a chip to have the wrong splits but the right final time......

so now he can explain how the major cockups at manchester occurred........

No one got quite so uppity when lengthy discussions on here called Tommy the Clown's race times into question.

Just sayin'

30/04/2013 at 17:36
23mins 29.99 seconds and 23 mins 31.01 seconds would have a 1.02 second difference but show up as 3 seconds difference in the splits.

Chips either record data or they don't. They don't record almost identical split times for someone else who shares the same surname and happens to be the spouse.

But in this race the organisers seem to have issued duplicate numbers ? So if that's an error that's visible in the photos - god knows what could have gone on with the chips.

Did they sort the baggage out this year ?

they are not spouse though.they arent even in the same running club........ and it has done it oin hundreds of results......

so i don't know why you prefer to believe that hundreds and hundreds of people have cheated rather than think it is a chip error.which the power of 10 have acknowleged and the marathon people have acknowledged that their results are wrong

Actually DF3, I'm aware of someone else  who was given the same time as someone with the same surname (not related) and they had consecutive bib numbers. It meant that person was given a time nearly 2 hours faster than they actually achieved, because of the cock up with the chips.

How come no one leapt to Tommy the Clown's defence with such passion?

30/04/2013 at 18:13
I don't believe anything Miss Nos. I'm merely presenting the facts and analysing it in an unbiased way. There seems to be a lot of things that don't add up. What makes you think they are not related? Same surname and consecutive numbers? Seems to show some sort of relationship.

Chips pass a sensor and they record a time or they don't. The computer could have duplicated the data on someone else's surname yes. But to change that data by a few seconds too??
30/04/2013 at 18:23

They've allocated the numbers in batches alphabetically.

Race no's 8262 to 8320 are all allocated to runners with the surname 'Smith'

Th eonly relationship is that they share the same surname

An alphabetical one, perhaps?

Good work Tenjiso and Gertie.

It's progress

RW is now a much more moral and upstanding place. The poor case of Tommy and his malfunctioning chips would never happen these days.

That's a great thing for any future members of the 76.7 marathon club (FKA 100 marathon club)

I thank you.

I'm not related to Gertie BTW

Big Bad Bob, I would say harm has been done, given how upset one of the people falsely accused of cheating is.
