Pacers, now you're talking.

15/02/2013 at 19:31   Lots of flavours apparently!

I'm sure "Tunes" throat sweets are what sadly became of Spangles, albeit with menthol hint flavours only.

Pacers, ended up as Opal Fruits and now Americanised as Starburst.

Sadly I'm old enough to remember the raisins in Double Decker bars too

Mrs R K said that the raisins were in the biscuit base!?

Love a DD me but only a Marathon hits the spot when hungry.

Weren't Pacers mint flavour though?  We had them as well as Opal Fruits.

Yeah, they were mint flavoured with green stripes but were exactly the same sweets as what we call Starburst now.

The girl who played Tigger went to my school and her big brother was in my class.

I have no ideas what Spangles or Pacers are... but I loved Trio!

Sarah, do you remember rhubarb and custard sweets? or are you far toooo young.

I am so old I remember and liked the chewy cigarette sweets 4 for 1p. Also the packets of smaller hard white sweet cigarettes with a red tip.  What were the manufacturers thinking of?

I loved pacers, not so sure what spangles were (someone describe them and I might remember) but it's made space dust spring to mind!

You can still get rhubarb and custard sweets CJ    There's an old fashioned sweet shop (their name not mine) in a town near me and annoyingly it's just as you come out of the car park so you can't miss it.

Good old google. Pacers were called Opal mints. Sister product to Opal fruits and discontinued in the 80's. Shame liked them.

Mint falvoures Chewits tasted like Pacers too. A brief pang of 90s nostalgia for an 80s product.
