Excuses

OK - so 80mph storms are possibly a good excuse for not going out and doing a long run - possibly.

But cleaning the house ?(my excuse on Friday for 8.5 hours - during which time I managed a whole sinkful of washing up!)

What other valid excuses are there...
'must spend more time with the family' (translation ...sitting in front of computer with RW forums open.)

'must sort my clothes for next week' (ie gym kit - not work clothes - I'll just wear what I can find)

'must clean my shoes' - ie handwash trainers

'must write a few letters' ie update running log

'need to let a couple of hours go by as I've only just eaten' ie 'and if I keep on eating and drinking then I'll never go out as you shouldn't exercise just after a meal....'

'must plan annual leave for next year' - ie look at events schedule and plan family's holiday around that

Why is it that when you're not running - it takes up more time than when you are ? Going out for a run is the quick bit!

Excellent, SS I've been running out of good excuses myself, these'll come in handy.

The eating one woorks best for me

Currently using the eating excuse - too windy for outdoor run (branches and roof tiles flying everywhere) so thought I'd go to the gym mid-morning after brekkie had settled. Then decided to have an early lunch so that it would have time to settle before an early afternoon run.....and so it goes on!

even better if you use Hobbit meal times - first breakfast, second breakfast, brunch, lunch, etc.

Oh, I'm so glad it's not just me. It IS too windy isn't it.

My latest excuse, which is working excellently is "...maybe I'm not well..."

I've got a cold and I don't want to make it worse!

Jon Darling,
You go to bed with some whiskey and chocolate, Nursey Daisy says so.

It's funny but I'm the other way around I use my running as an excuse not to do other things!

and I have a funny leg! Mind you, people have been saying that for years!

And of course, if you have been out on the 'pop' last night, you will be far too dehydrated to go running. So you will have to spend a few hours taking liquids onboard.

Jon, if your legs really bad, Nurse DeBarkles will attend....!

My 'excuse' today was that I have a couple of leg twinges I'm uncertain about so want to rest.

However anyone who accused me of skiving a run would have been greeted with an incredulous stare - despite the weather, I had to resist talking myself into the run, not out of it!!

I've got a cold. It's horrible cos it's bad enough to stop be running, but not bad enough to stop me decorating all weekend!

Any advice nurse Daisy?

I've just spent the afternoon snoring on the floor in the living room in front of the TV whilst MiniSS played Buckaroo - on me! This involved her piling loads of pictures / ornaments / Wizard Chess pieces and video boxes on top of me and every 5 minutes of so I had to say 'Bu**er you' - no of course not - 'Buckaroo' was the word and buck them off.

What a fantastic excuse for not going out - quality mum / daughter play time.

Unfortunately, MrSS will be home in the next 2-3 hours and I'll have to go out then - even if it's midnight - or I'll feel I'm letting Ron down.....

Guilt - the great leveller.
