A Happy New Year to everybody too.

I checked out the wind and weather forecast for today and discovered we were due for a 40mph westerly wind all round the coast so I got myself well wrapped up and headed off for Westgate. It was glorious, flying along with the wind at my back and the sea crashing alongside me. Happy Days!

Of course!!!

And today there's no wind at all!

beautiful out there - sunny hot spots, chill on the tops, the occasional headwind (of course), fallen trees and plenty of mud - 3hrs rapidly became 3.5 (sorry MF7, next time I'll study the map more closely!) But it was worth it

Well done to us. I was also pleasedto see two of my favourite 10 milers, Canterbury and the Great South, in the other races top ten.

JFDI, is is PH in charge of marshals this weekend?  If so does she have an email address.  I can't marshal now, have another throat infection.  Would ask for her phone number but its sore to talk!

Hi Cinders - I will text her for you - hope you get better soon xx

Yoo hoo, is there anybody out there? Everybody looking forward to the 20? I still feel a bit rusty after my holidays when I had 18 days without running. My run at tunbridge Wells started really well, got trashed in the middle with the two nasty hills and from then on in it was metaphorically but not literally downhill all the way. hope I can find my mojo again before Sunday.

Welcome back CB

Looking forward to the 20 being over with!  I'm sure you'll be fine

JFDI Really "enjoyed" the 20, thanks partly to a smashing guy called Steve Branfield from Tunbridge Wells Harriers who paced me to a time I could not have dreamt of before the race. I met him in 2010 when he was the 2h10 pacemaker for the Tunbridge Wells Half. Generally speaking I am usually a very "solitary" runner, even in races I always seem to be on my own with nobody else around. That usually means when my head "gets in a bad place" I find it difficult to snap out of it but I didn't have that problem yesterday.

I don't know if anybody from Runners World monitors any of these forum postings, but if they are they want to have va word with their colleagues about the way they seem to keep cocking up our race listings. After the race I went into RW to rate the Thanet 20 and up comes the rating for the 2011 Thanet 10 with great big block capitals across the top saying the race had been cancelled. We put on great races and I think sometimes we don't get all the credit we deserve when administrative problems like this keep arising.

Know what you mean CB - I have emailed them previously but obviously they ignore the emails!  However I have just posted a rating on there and other have managed to find it.

Well done for a PB in not ideal conditions!  Still it could have been today!
