A general forum for runners in Thanet
Hi Cinders - as far/fast as you want to go! Gaynor is brilliant in that she will stay with whoever is slowest but the others can go on and double back but its a small, friendly group - go on - you know you want to!!!!
Thanks JFDI. She says she does Mondays too so think Monday I'll be venturing along
It was great to see gaynor out at Deal last week, she is such a trooper, turning out in all weathers.
good luck at the 10 everyone...
The Runners World website is a right pain in the jacksie sometimes. If you go onto the reviews of this year's Thanet 10 about half way down you start reading reviews of the Thanet 20 in March. They also have the race flagged as POSTPONED which is not helpful either.
I know RW staff sometimes monitor postings in the forum, so if any of you read this can somebody please ensure that reviews for different races don't get blended into each other.
Yeah cheers for that CB - I got really confused yesterday!! Also I wish we could find out who loopyloopy is - they would be barred from all our future races!
I wouldn't worry about loopy loopy I doubt if he/she will be coming back. There is always one prat. My only tiny niggle with Sunday was that the start signal was not heard in the middle of the pack and we only realised we were under way when folk started moving in front of us, maybe one of those airhorns could be used.
Given all that you had to put up with race wise and domestically over that period I take my proverbial hat off to you, lesser women would have crumbled and resorted to several bottles of red!
I doubt he or she will be back. Don't think they like races much at all given the reviews they have written!
I know but it would be nice to publicly name and shame - lots of other races are apparently considering barring headphones too!
what is that loopy guy on?! As you say Cinders, seems like a proper wingebag - why does he bother?
I thought that too Ed. Seems the Folkestone half didn't rate much in his books either!
The posting is virtually illiterate. I know not everything posted in reviews would get good marks in an English exam, but his/her spelling and grammar errors take the written word to a new level!
just caught up with this thread... what an unpleasant bit of feedback from that loopy nutter and in horriffic english. Couldn't make the 10 this year but it is one of the best and the no-heaphones rule makes absolute sense.
Think most races are considering it - wish they had at Ditton yesterday - Steve got taken out by a numpty wearing them and I had a close call with a girl wearing them who stepped back from tying shoelaces and hadn'theard me approach!
Not nice, is Steve ok? Worst I saw was GNR and an ambulance couldn't get through because it couldn't be heard
Steve was ok just very muddy!
Have you ever watched folk talking on a moibile and walking down the pavement at the same time? Most folk find it impossible to talk and walk in a straight line, especially if it is an animated conversation. I was waiting to cross at lights once in London and some numpty on the phone was weaving backwards and forwards getting in my way. I muttered, I thought under my breath, "Oh, for f*cks sake!", but apparently it was not as "sotto voce" as I thought because next minute he is shouting "Charming, oh that IS charming!" I laughed all the way home!
If you think our Duracell Bunny is fast, have a look at this Australian kid running in a schools relay.
I know Bill - I get well cheesed off with folk walking aimlessly all over the place in town. Not difficult to walk in a straight line is it?
On another note, the Thanet 20 is now up, but neither Sharon nor I are subscribers. Can someone please give us a link to the race, so I can stick on the TRAC website? Cheers!
