well, i've been 'featured' on Redwatch (BNP site where they put up pics of people they don't like - if you are going to look at it use an anonymiser), slogan 'Remember places, traitors' faces, they'll all pay for their crimes'.
They put up names, home addresses, photos, anything they can, and it's been linked to several attacks on 'lefties'.
The more info the Govt has on us, the easier it is for someone to look it up and publish it maliciously. & no, i don't think the govt would make the information 'publically' accessible deliberately - but the more people can access such a database for 'legitamate' reasons then the less secure it is.
And think about it - how much use is a fingerprint record anyway, on its own? if you know that a fingerprint in Birmingham at a crime scene matches one taken in Newcastle 20 years ago - useless, EXCEPT if you've tracked the person in the meantime - ID cards.
