just got the latest runners world mag and their is an Q & A with haile Gebrselassie,  and i'm confused?

ok i admitt i'm not quite in the great mans league. but a speed session of 800m reps at 5:30 pace when you run a mara at sub 5 min pace? and a training run of 3.5 hours at mara pace when you race at that pace for less than 2:04 min ?

am i reading this wrong?

Impossible to tell from what you've posted. Sorry.

I think what CT is alluding to is.......

If Haile runs at 5min miles, why is he doing 800m reps at 5mins 30 secs pace?  Also, why are the training runs 3.5 hours in length at marathon pace, when his time for a Mara is only 2:04?

Disclaimer: I may be wrong

I thought you were asking if you had misread the article - which is hard to answer cos I don't have a copy!!  It seems none of your fellow subscribers want to chip in.
