I think they have their days and weeks mixed up

That's the beauty of sport, using the terminology the pros use.

Reminds me of footy days, listening to some oaf talking intricate tactics pre match, yet the second it kicks off it's standard hoofball and headles chicken fare.

Ive just done a 29 miler today, I was told when I was training for HM's that you should go beyond the mileage you intend to do so it will feel easy on race day so Im taking that same training method into my Brighton effort. Both my knees feel knackered now though.

Going to do a 33 miler next week before tapering.

Just had a scroll through....bravo DF3!

They thought he was being serious

33miler....love it

DF3 - I presume those miles were still on the treadmill?  If so, that doesn't count

I saw it.  I hate to tell you this as I don't want you to get a big(ger) head, but it did make me laugh

Did you have the day off yesterday David or actually do some work. There was a distinck lack of DF3 posts.

Maybe it was because he spent 6 hours on the treadmill

Just admit it David. You ARE Poohbear aren't you?

I hope this injury isn't going to manifest itself into the excuse for a DNS for your Marathon in May David.

I am trying to decide whether the guys on the Brighton thread just don't know or they are in on the joke and are taking the piss......humoring you....still its all very entertaining......oops I seem to have caught the Seren ....... dots ....thing................Sorry NLR

I think it's a mixture of people who are taking the piss and people who are oblivious. But either way you can't really accuse them of being cliquey any more when they are really being quite nice to you.

I forgive you Guns of Brixton.

As JulieFrazz exclaims " carb loading three weeks before a race??" And as Stevie G says, they hear the terms and have no understanding of what it means.
27/03/2013 at 10:46
They seem to take out of the term "tapering" the bits they like. The reduced mileage ie none and eating a bit more ie loads.
27/03/2013 at 11:29

We from the REAL Brighton thread know all about tapering. We had discussions about it and even had people post a linky thing to some more advice.

It does seem strange to me though, that posters on here write as if no-one from there would read this thread

Of course, Brighton being people's first marathon, we do make mistakes. For instance, I am eating loads more than usual, and I am not running (at this moment).

Aha - you've finally been busted guys!

If they know all about tapering then they hide it well. This thread was never trying to be The Brighton Marathon thread, We are just sat in a disguised wooden hut observing you lot over there. But it looks like the creatures have detected us.

I don't do excuses .......... I will be there, I will be under 4.30 no matter what.

When is Brighton marathon? I'm sooo looking forward to hearing DF3's excuses for not running under 4:30...

His best excuse for not running under 4.30 is that he hasn't entered the Brighton Marathon

Big Tobes is 3 stone lighter than last year. He should run sub 4.30 easy. Needs to have plenty of warm clothes in his bag while waiting for his missus though.
