Just how bizarre are the British?

A mile from where I live they roll a whole Double Gloucester cheese down a F@@K ME steep hill and loonies chase it with the hope of winning. Most people come away injured. The "race" has been banned on several occasions.

What do they do in your neck of the woods?

Hardly anyone comes away injured, especially if it's wet.

I'd rather chase after cheese than run with bulls.  Then again I'd rather sit down and eat it with a nice drop of port than chase it down a hill.

Run around naked on a hill and set fire to things. Would rather have the cheese.

Sit around tutting at the antics of people in other areas of the country I imagine.
At a push the local Morris Men might shake their bells and sticks for half an hour on the promise of a free pint.
It's not a fast pace of life where I live!

Well our Morris men (and women) danced at dawn on top of a motte and bailey castle in longish grass with rabbit holes, then had a BBQ and beer for breakfast!  Ah those were the days!

What are the opposites of Morris men (and women) dancers called...?   They look similar, but mostly dressed in black and gothic clothes and rather more sinister looking...   I saw some kind of ritual dancing with both groups involved and then they all had a jolly good time singing and drinking beer.....    I'm presuming there is a historical connection there somewhere....!

Klu Klux Klan?

we dance round the may pole and celebrate the penis.

Every April in London they have this event where 36,000 people or there abouts gather at Blackheath and run 26.2 miles to The Mall. I've even done it a couple of times myself.

They call it a Snickers or something, oh, I mean a Marathon.

Some Border Morris sides can look quite gothy.  If they're wearing tatter jackets and brandishing sticks they're probably border.  These guys are exemplary...  I want to run away and join them! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6u35lINyEw

I said it's in April. I was referring to quirky events.
