I am with you, its a load of old tripe, like that prize someone won a few years ago - the unmade bed - also had used tampons and sh*t in it as well didnt it? I never won a prize and I have had that at least 50 times over!

Some of it is trash agreed... BUT don't assume that all modern art is rubbish.

The afore mentioned bed was by Tracy Emin... can't remember if it actually won though

I reckon that Tracey's bed had been 'snooped'.
She just made money out of it.

Here's the plan :

1,000 of us forum members donate an old pair of running shoes. We make a tall pillar out of them. Stick it in the Tate Modern and call it 'To The Moon and Back'. A year later some saddo buys it for £1000,000 and we split the cash. Hoorah !!

Good plan.

Nice one. I have a pair of worn out Nike Air, complete with dried dogssh*t, that you can have for starters.

I have three different incarnations of the Asics 2000 series...

I think the piles of rubbish etc., is a load of old tripe too, however Scotty's idea is fab. If someone is mug enough to buy it, let's do it!

That's 4 pairs already (I am an accountant, see)!
02/10/2002 at 13:24
Accountants CAN count then!

Yes, but I needed 3 computers, 2 calculators, 4 abacuses (or would it we abacii???) and 14 signatures from senior management before releasing those details.

Abacii....Isn't that a song by Genesis ?
02/10/2002 at 13:29
Someone is showing their age. I wouldn't know, I am only 27.

So why poor soul is collecting said smelly shoes then. Scotty....
02/10/2002 at 13:30
Jeffsy lol!
02/10/2002 at 13:31
Do you mean 'which' poor soul rather than 'why'. You appear to be drunk. Is it that free pint?

Let me work on the drawings first......:)

Need to expand on what form the pillar should take i.e. straight up, decorative, ornate, tree like etc.

In terms of saleability we need to find our target buyer and build accordingly.

Get the thinking hats on. ;-)

I'll use my accountant-creativity to cook something up!

If we build this thing; 1,000 pairs of shoes (10cm high for example) piled one pair on top of the other will be about 100m high ! Have to be several pairs per layer.

We'll save on postage as most shoes will be able to walk to me under their own steam :)

Tim. I work 200m from the Tate Modern....I don't know whether I have been inspired or infected !
