Mornings. All quiet on the western front... for today. The wind must've blown the intertubes away last night, or they were filled with water, either way, they wouldn't work.
Hi Towner, *waves* great to have you back!
Morning all - our drain is still semi-blocked...apparently the application of the drain cleaner called One Shot will need to be reapplied.
(I think I'm getting the lurgy...but I'll just battle through and not complain as is the spirit of the thread...*sniff* )
There was a programme on last night in which they cooked recipes from the 18th century. One of the desserts was Parmesan ice cream

Duh! Just noticed I already have a message!
I am so tired tonight. too tired to swim which is pants. Stupid job making me to tired to do the things I want to do.
I swam this afternoon. The river was the highest I have ever seen it. One of the others thought that the twigs on the surface were flowing at about 1.5m/sec (a ligitimate reason for playing Pooh sticks ).
We 'swam' 1.2k in 10 minutes, although we didn't use our arms much.
And before I get told off by you lot for taking risks, it was perfectly safe. We know the river well, we know where there is a dead spot that is easy to get out from without the current pulling on us, we have put paving slabs on the back to give us 'steps' to climb out on, and there was no major debris as that was all swept away with the last lot of heavy rainfall.
(Sorry, but I've been bombarded by texts today from people who care and think it is unsafe to swim. I don't take risks, not under any circumstances, although I might joke that I do occasionally)
