Morning
I'm very new to this running thing and have been told I can get some great advice and support from the people on here. Is this true?

Yes, this is a great place for advice and support, but you are better off posting in the beginners board as Clubhouse tends to be a lot less serious.  There will be a lot of like minded people on the beginners board whereas here is more like a pub where you get a lot of banter and friendly abuse.

pub?
banter?
friendly abuse?

I thought it was a running forum not a hang out for wannabe drunk masochistic comedians?

I think you'll find a lot of the people here are drinkers with a running problem

What makes you think the two are mutually exclusive?

Hmmm on the one hand you say you are very new to this "running thing" as you so charmingly put it yet your profile says this:

 My Running

I am a: regular recreational runner
I have been running for: Over 10 years
I run this many times a week: 1-3 times
My weekly mileage is about: 21-30

My Triathlon

I am a: Serious competitive triathlete
I have been participating in triathlons for: 5-10 years
I train this much per week: Less than 5 hours

Make your mind up!

You need advice ?

Get decent shoes and rotate them.
Listen to your body.
Vaseline anything that moves.
Be very suspicious of clowns.
Don't run a Marathon at two weeks notice.
Never respond to lifts to Silverstone threads.
Yes they're all 26.2 miles. Apart from the ones that aren't.
Yes your gps read a different length.

Have fun.

My top tip - never go out with a man who has bigger boobs that you do.
