Official result Lewes 10

...hmmm..

My official time over the (very arduous) 10 miles was: 1:17:15. This positioned me 125/320. So I guess I shall sit here and be a bit pleased.

Now: how to go 3.1 miles further in 3 weeks time at Barns Green...and (I hope) slightly faster pace - assuming it will be flatter (please, be flatter....).

Try running a negative split(in a positive way)and see how the leg holds up.

A quick count has revealed 8 women beat me, almost all of whom were veterans!!! What is it with these "old" women? have they more time to train? Have they a higher pain threshold from dropping sprogs or what?

Highly unfair. ;-)

They have the mental game won before the race starts. They have much more incentive than you - there is nothing an "old" woman likes more than beating someone younger - and if they are male, it's a double whammy.

Why would they have more time to train? Surely you would think they must be knitting, looking after grandchildren, baking cakes in case their younger pernickity relatives come and see them, gardening, planning their retirement in Eastbourne, drinking sherry etc etc.

There seems to be a bit of a chauvinist element amongst the male forumites....

Top half of the field and only 8 women ahead of you - I still aspire to such standards

PS 8 out 125 seems like a very small women's field, are you sure you're old enough to tell the difference yet?

Nick - there were more women - total field was 320, but it was a hard course, so I am guessing this tipped the favour towards the men.

Having fathered 2 children, I hope I know the difference!!

Those 8 women were just galloping ahead to make sure they had the sandwiches and tea made for you when you finished. And that just gave them enough time to 'put their face on' so they looked pretty for you too ...

Well they did not even have water at the end, so they must have got hungry too...

Do you think these old women had false teeth?

Hungry old women with false teeth ... mmmmm
