I've actually just finished week 5 , finally stopped thinking about it at home, still very difficult when going out. Although travelled for work Wednesday and sat in the airport lounge and had a coke - normally I would have abused the free booze.
I'm actually rather dreading the first day after the night before at the end of the wagon ride!

Well done Jeremy. The finish line s in sight!

And we don't necessarily have to climb off the waggon on 1 February either!

Indeed BI. I'm doing Feb as well. Off on hols on March 8th so will have a few then, especially as it is a rugby tour!

I'm trying to do up to March 24th (day after TP100). Fortunately it seems to have got easier.
People seem to understand it better if I say I'm doing it for a race/training, I imagine it would be a difficult adjustment if you just wanted to stop over a longer term for no "apparent" reason.
How's everyone surviving the weekend?

Imagine if you will the wagon careening racing along a bumpy potholed road with rocks and other debris in the way. Me holding on for dear life trailing out the back like a (large) flag in the wind!

That's been me over the past few days. The potholes and debris being life events set in my path. It's been tough, but I'm still here

Those who have a drink because they choose to rather than have life events choose for them, good for you, the wagon is always there to hop on and off at will. If I have a drink it'll be because I choose to, not because other people/events are driving me to it!

I don't intend to drink until at least April 21st, which is the day of the Great Welsh Marathon.

The inspiration and encouragement I get here are a large part of me being able to hang on to that rear axle

Nice words YOD.

Went out for an Indian tonight. Didn't miss a beer to wash it down but did miss my usual Irish Coffee!

Tried a de-alcololised red wine today.  I stayed off the booze though and drinking hot chocolate now.

Keep hanging on there old dragon.

I also had a curry yesterday after which we went to the local for a drink.... and all I had was soda water! Was tempted as my friend had a beer but my decision keeps.

I dont seem to be able to sleep nowadays though. One opportunity this weekend to catch up with sleep and I wake up at 7 both days. I must be getting old. And more tired!!

Well done Elli!

I like the idea of soda water, not sickly sweet. I'll try that, thanks and well done.

It's gone very quiet in here, is this because January is almost over?

Good for you Ellie

I think the wagon has a few more empty seats perhaps?

Yes Kev, I'm a bit bruised having fallen off again. I succumbed to Rioja with my chorizo casserole last night and then found the chocolate wine I bought at Christmas.

Am paying for it with a banging hangover this morning - hence early posting.

I too appreciated your comments YOD. If nothing else I have realised this month I have realised I can get through a bad day without a drink.

Never mind K80 dust yourself down and hop back on. There's still some of us here.

I'm definitely going to make the month now. First time I haven't drunk for a month since I was about 17 and I'm 40 now!

28 days down three sleeps til the month is done

Sitting here after swim training, drinking an alcohol-free Weizen beer.
