It's seriously difficult to not drink alcohol here on NYE, when we live in the middle of winefields all around us and a champagne cellar in the middle of town! So I shall drink my red wine with dinner (wild boar tonight!) and a glass of champers with the neighbours at midnight, would be churlish not to! We'll start on 2 January, because that's the day we go back to work, ugh. We did run 12km today though, and will run tomorrow, we always do on NY day.

Day one dawns

Survived last night on soft drinks. Must be a first! Day one should be a doddle (what's left of it). Hell down south on Saturday is a good incentive to keep off the sauce.

Blown it already.

Ah well.

Back here again for this year's effort. Did 5 or 6 weeks last year in Jan / Feb but soon slipped back.

Goal this year is to do Dry January and after that to drink only on 'special occasions'.

Nice to see a few of the old faces!

Happy New Year.

Hi all - I'm going to try and do this again this year (I'm like Bionic Ironwolf and starting today) I'm hoping to go the whole of January...and after NYE my liver will be thanking me.  Sorry to gatecrash your thread again...

Quite a few resolutions for me this year...a dry January and then seriously trying to cut back the rest of the year...try and learn conversational Spanish...(I do have Rosetta Stone)...to finish a writing project I have and see if it has any merit...lose the lard finish the London marathon in under 5 hours (not like with the amount of training I've done so far!)  But the drink thing is the one I'm concentrating on right now

Day one mostly done. no bother. I got loads of herbal teas in and lots of fizzy waters. The weekend might be more difficult.

Day 2 done - first weekend is the first break a habit thingy

Anyone else have a bad night's sleep?  I tossed and turned a lot...ironically I feel fresh enough this morning....

Day 3 arrives and we have a house party to go to! Although Mrs RK isn't very well so may have an excuse to duck out!

I had something of a restless night Ginger - but sometimes that happens, it'll settle quite quickly in my experience.

In partnership with DryJanuary, I'm doing Jantastic and the 30 day legs and abs challenge. If all goes to plan I should be feeling fab-u-lous by the 31st January and not want to go back to 'do I have to' mornings

I'm in! Good time to do it as running the Seville marathon on 23rd Feb. If I enjoy it too much I might extend it until then but for now committing to Jan.
