2:18:37 just popped into my head for no reason.

I won't be watching it tho' as I live in Iceland and don't have a telly.

So, who was sick in the GNR? Sorry, I only get British news after everyone else does and then only tantilizing snippets of information which just make me want to know more ...so who was he - where and when? And on camera?

Someone above said Andy Graffin, but I thought I remembered the commentator sayign something about Andy's brother Allan - unless they both ran it?

It wasn't actually *on* the camera - the camera was focused on the guy as he was bent over double heavy breathin, and what started out looking like a quick spit of saliva turned into a full blown barf!

What's happend to this forum lately - a couple of weeks ago it was training the general forum by a couple of 100, now it's got more than double the number of postings!

It's a sub 2:16 and a new world's best.
Then its BBC Sports Personality of the Year followed by Gold at the World Championships in Paris 2003.

PLus i see Nessie's had a pot at poor ol' Lance Armstrong. Truly remarkable chap, i met him last year. Like PR, absolutely SUPERB, NUMERO UNO in there respective sports.

Paula is going to exceed all expectations - 2 hours 15 mins 58 seconds.
Lets hope she also wins the British Sports Personality of the Year (rather than a playboy millionaire, fashion icon, pop star...... sorry footballer)for her real effort when representing her country!!

2hrs 19mins. I would say a bit quicker than that, but i've got a bad feeling that a large gust in the Windy City could hinder things slightly.

Good luck to her tho'.

And the winner is.......AmandaP. Only 3 seconds out - well done Amanda - have a vitrual bottle of champagne.

R4YL - I wasn't taking a shot at Lance; obviously my sarcastic shot at the French press who accused him of cheating because he had the affront to take drugs which would save his life didn't come across too well in print. Lance is a hero in anyone's eyes, and I think he can go on to win a record number of tours.

Sorry, although I admire Armstrong for what he's achieved, I don't think he's necessarily the most pleasant of people: I've still not forgiven him for saying what he did about Pantani on Mont Ventoux. For any sportsperson to say that "X only won because I let him" is disgraceful and demeaning.
