From the Old town

Staying in Edinburgh in the Apex International, which looks like it's just behind the castle. Want to run, and have looked at Memory Map - there looks to be a circuit of Arthur's Seat, which would give me about 6 miles - but rather fancy a bit further.

Anyone got any recommendations for where i could go early evening which isn't going to be too dark and dingy, nor too traffic ridden?

Cheers

Andy - you could add the Meadows in too. It's behind you if you're facing the castle. The centre of town is pretty busy, so the meadows, Arthur's seat are your best bet. You could also go down the road from the roundabout just inside the park (near the commonwealth pool entrance) to Duddingston and back - that adds on some more miles.

Cheers - what I've got worked out so far is along to Arthur's Seat (at 12 o'clock, if you see what I mean), round it clockwise until you get to a roundabout at about 7 o'clock, then almost back on yourself, round Duddingston Loch, down to Craigmillar castle, then back up the A7 to the sam roundabout (th 7 o'clock one), then round the rest of Arthur's Seat, then back the way you've come - that looks like about 10 miles.

How does that sound?

Sounds good Andy, but you've probably done the run by now!

How did it go?

Not yet, Debbo - Tuesday evening. I'll report back...

Back from Edinburgh and had a good run, apart from the constantly changing wind direction that meant it was always in my face. Stayed in Grassmarket, then ran down to Arthur's Seat, round the Radical Road, then down to Craigmillar castle and back up to the Royal Mile on the main road - almost bang on 10miles on my Garmin.

Correction - It wasn't the radical Road - it was Queen's Drive - bit dark for running off road...
