Like the official RW comp, only better.

6 mentees and 6 mentors, choose your marathon and train with the help of your mentor. All concerned are existing members of the forum.

T. Mouse - do you want to start the thread? or shall I? Shall we see how much interest we get and then go from there?

savi - as T.mouse said, 6 mentors, 6 mentees.  Six people are chosen and matched up to a mentor.  The mentees choose their own marathon and schedule and the mentor will offer support, guidance and encouragement through a thread on the marathon page.  There are no frills, ie you won't get new shoes or a trip to Paris but you will get the best chance of a pb, which is what its all about!

Missed this earlier

Was chatting to Minni about this

Quite happy to do this again this year as we have had so much success in recent years
We usually let the RW Team choose their 6 and then go from there

Start practising your pitches

(any potential mentors lurking feel free to mail me through here )

Looks like there are enough of us to see this happen again.

How have you gone about touting for mentors in the past. Do you get plenty of volunteers or do you ask around? What sort of work goes on in the background?

Anyone else doing the Giants Head marathon by the way? I think we should have a special mentor mentee thread just for that.

I'll talk to some past and present mentors and see where to go from there

Can I bag Gobi as a mentor?

You can always pay Gobi to coach you......

I'll be up for mentoring again. As long as it's no one annoying.

Minni is right, we should be ready to announce just before chrimbo.

I believe we announced winners on Christmas Eve or thereabouts last year (memory may be a bit dim)!!

Once the RW have announced their 6 I'll get a thread started and will source some mentors in the meantime ????

@Meldy - can you also post what you'd want from a mentor - there might be some people who are interested but not sure what's required.

I of course will be one of the official ones this year but will follow these unofficial ones as well
