From where I'm sitting, the decision to NOT do it on here and do a SS on our FB page was popular because the vast majority of folk IN that FB group don't post anymore on here and felt more comfortable buying presents for each other. The FB group is a lovely place. It's somewhere we CHOOSE to hang out, chat and rant, Goldie put a lovely picture of his fine arse on there and we all drooled. There are no rules about the C word and its incredibly friendly, good natured and relaxed.
Those who wish to join the group need to put a request in which will be accepted providing that you haven't blocked any of the members of the group, which is just plain spiteful unless you can prove they've stalked you or eaten one of your offspring. And if Runners world took their heads out of their arses for even five minutes they would realise that over 100 of their best forumites are camped elsewhere having a nice time together NOT promoting their site
