Well I think it was a jolly well deserved win ET and you should take it for the victory it is regardless of the field. Why do we always do that? Knock our achievements?! I did it after the Crouch end 10k 'All the proper runners must have been doing something else' CJ did it 'But there were only 12 women in the race' - we have to stop doing that. We deserve our successes, we train harder than the general population, set a good example to our kids, put time and effort in to supporting each other and encouraging other people to participate themselves. We deserve to win sometimes - so jolly big pat on the back to us all I say.

Tuesday 12th June is thus the official SSC self appreciation day and we're gonna celebrate our achievements. Well done all. Very proud of each and every one of you .

well done ET.

thought it was you I'd seen on saturday pjaz, I had thought that i'd try and keep you in my sights when we set off......maybe force me to go a little faster but no.....I was still lapped by the front runners. I might go back to graves...at least I finish the first lap before the front runners finish the race I really need to work on my speed now.

Nice one ET . Sounds like the Truncers had a good time last night too. How much was the field affected by the football?

I'll be at Kimberworth tonight. The Kimmy Kanter. A 5(ish) mile trail run. It's an open race, latest in the KMRT series and latest in Kimmy Striders Club Championships.

£4 and starting from Millmoor Juniors at 7pm

121 runners instead of the usual 200-300 at the trunce. Very muddy and the stepping stone weren't even an option as they were covered by the water. Not as deep as may but wet feet guaranteed. I ran 28:54 and finished 16th. Pretty slow but I could still feel the effort of Castleton in my legs from Friday despite two days off from running or cycling. Lack of sleep from not getting to bed till nearly 2 Sunday morning then Lucas waking at 5:50 for his feed didn't help either.

Thanks debs, GN and BMB. Good points Moz.

GI - Must admit that we`re nearly always in bed early since having little uns. Eldest is always awake at 6ish regardless of what time we put her to bed.

GN - Quite fancy that race but know I shouldn`t. Still resting but really want to do the 3 Lakes on Saturday.

Same here, but I reckon my runnings been way too lax for the last few months. I'd not be happy with my performance for a 15 miler. Pity as I really like it and missed it last year.

Redressing the balance now, but building back up gradually. Little and often. Trying for a faster base, before building. First targets weight loss and speed.

GN - 3 Lakes is pretty flat, isn`t it? Hills seem to hurt my knees at the mo.

<Coffee goes over monitor!!>

Flat at Rother Valley

Flat at Treeton Dyke

Definitely not flat upto, around and back down to Treeton from Ulley

ET - as GN says, the 3 Lakes is hilly in parts but its not particulalry technical and the Ulley bit is a mix of road and the good paths around the reservoir. Is it the descents that are causing the problem?  There are a couple of steep uns (road) around the Ulley section.

Pops - you doing this: http://www.peakroadclub.co.uk/theevent.html It's gonna be my first TT . I think . It may be a .

Could wait till you've done 3 lakes ET? Next Tuesday there's the Midsummer Mad Dash

"A challenging 5 mile trail race through undulating woodlands

Start at 7pm from the Packhorse Inn, 23 Packhorse Lane,

High Green" £4

Or if you like 3 lakes, there's the next KMRT, next Wednesday. Starts at Whiston Cricket Club and goes on a XC circuit round Ulley £4/5miles again

Not entered it Mozzy, haven't been on the bike for 10 days anyway so probably just as well - 250 miles total in the last 5 weeks - I'm going to try and do a gentle ride with some of the slower group on our chaingang tonight and if I can't manage that without feeling like I've just run a marathon I think I'm going to cry !

It's a great event though - I did it a few years ago and really enjoyed it - except someone told me it's not that hilly - they were lying and the climbs were murder on a TT bike.

I recced it today so I know the route. Not too bad if you're used to cycling in the peaks!!! Even managed to get down on my tri bars once or twice!!!

Don't cry Pops. If you cry we all will .

New 10k that I could literally get out of bed. Step out my door and run, well after a 5min walk

Thanks GN and Didds for info. Really fancy that as I like the longer races despite now being the short race specialist! OH is away all weekend so I have the little ones so 3 Lakes looks unlikely but the other 2 could be poss. Would also like to do the next Totley one but that would be daft with tender knees, and yes Didds, they`re sorest on descents.

That 10k sounds good GI. Nice to see new races. Shame that Mansfield and Newark HMs have gone as that means there are many longer races nearby for a fair while, I think.

Figure I'd best point out - The Ulley one next week would be hilly
