Oh well, can't say it's summat going round, but I'm sort of in the same boat Moz. LH sacroilliacs giving it some major jip today. Popping Ibuprofens etc.
Least I've no imminent media engagements
Good luck for that Moz, you got a Smilies headband?
Plan is to do Brinsworh 10k on Sunday, but I reckon midweek I'll have a trot around the Elmton Chase. I know its the same day as Hope, but has anyone else done it or planning to?

Morning!

Same here. Having back hassle again so will go to Docs tomorrow and push for some physio. Had a few back spasms. Can`t afford to pay for it meself at the mo.

Ran for an hour or so yesterday with JG and have vague plans to do Elmton now that the Euros have finished but not sure.

Have fun Moz. We`re hoping to get to Ecclesall road area tonight.

Have you done Elmton before ET?
Not having done it, just wondered if you can usually EOD?

25/06/2012 at 14:15

Baz

Seconded. Come on Baz, we need an update on life in Mcr.

Sorry Pops - can't be of any help.

Things are good Didds. Apart from work which is actually seeing me in Sheffield more often than I'd like.

Off to see the Stone Roses in Heaton Park on Sunday so hoping the Manchester weather can play nice for a change. Unlikely though.

Moz, what a great experience. congratulations and very well deserved for all your hard work and effort with the SP's, from the pics on FB looks like you were in your element

Ay-up Baz, you running at all?

27/06/2012 at 08:53

Morning.

Baz - Whats wrong with being in Sheffield?

Think I'll give Hope Fell race a miss - the weather forecast is not good for this evening - rain and thunder and hills are not a good combination.

I think they should have chosen Moz to light the cauldron on Monday.

Looks like a double thumbs up for ClowneRR/Accelerates Elmton Chase then? I'd considered Hope, but with this twinge in my back figured staying away from the descents might be the smart thing to do. Forecasts looking OK over that way.

5 days till I carry the big lightsaber thru parson cross and town then along attercliffe rd to Rotherham. Nervous and still got a cough but at least I am running again. Lift to Ecclesfield for 5am may have to let me down so looks like a 7mile easy run BEFORE I start my 14mile journey. Been a long time since I ran 21miles in one go. :-/

Don't think theres no Hope for me tonight!

Well no Hope fell race that is, the hilly 8miles last night and easy 4mile this morning took a lot of effort so racing doesn't seem a good idea.

On a another note, the plan to start a hillsboro parkrun seems to be moving on. Got 2 routes planned and going to try to get people testing it in next couple of weeks. Could be a fast one.

No racing for me last night in the end, but did 7m run home form work.  Wow, it was hot and humid and very draining.

Morning.

Checked out the Hope race results. I can't believe that Kev Doyle ran as well as he did - considering he not only ran but won the 100 mile Cotswolds Ultra on Saturday! Had a quick looks at his times and splits. I think he ran the 100 miles at a better pace than my best marathon!
Anyway I got to Elmton last night. Nice and  rural. Plenty of parking. As I walked to get registered, I looked off to the side. an open field, couple of kids sat in it, a white horse. A field of corn beyond with a streak of scarlet poppy flowers. Would've made a great landscape....
Anyway the race is shy of 5 miles. Undulating, but basically 1.5 miles slope uphill, 1.5 miles slope downhill and the rest's another long, shallow (but definitely noticeable) ascent. The course is predominantly off road, fieldside and trail, which you could tell Clowne had been out and recently strimmed.  There's plenty of marshalls about, which is good as I nearly missed the gap in a hedge and would've carried on down the road at one point.
I've decided to ignore my time. I was happy with the run and from about 1.5 miles in I was pretty consistant. I didn't really pass anyone, but then I don't think I got passed. When I got back home, I'd started to look at the Garmin, but end of the day, it's a trail race, with stiles, plenty of direction changes etc. I'm not going to do the same pace as a road race?..... Stuff it, I enjoyed it.
The other thing is. I was the first Strider home!
OK, I was the only Strider home, but next year I might see if I can tempt a couple more down to run it
