No wombwell for me Sunday

18miles today with some killer hills and a wind sprint session tomorrow afternoon means I won't be up to racing Sunday.

Next race (only one before Blackpool) for me will be the SY Half on march 17th. Hopefully be a storming run (1:20-1:22:00) giving me confidence to go for 2:49:00 at Blackpool.

Sorry to hear you won`t be doing Wombwell GI. I`m hoping to do it. Got 2 runs done today, of differing quality, and will rest tomorrow. Still in no kind of shape so just looking to enjoy the sights on Sunday. Anyone PRing?

I did the Parkrun at Hillsborough on Saturday - it was good and nice route to run.

The 3 laps do add the risk of being lapped - I was (just) by the front 2 but wasn't running particularly fast due to my legs being tired and muscles tight after running 5 from 7 days last week so hope to not repeat that next time (got round in 25 something so pleased with that).  Nice to see Riggsy briefly also.

Well done Gaz

And congrats to Baz who got engaged on a break to New York - who'd have guessed at that happening on a break to New York

Congrats Baz.

-22lbs for me now since the new year

Really has made a difference to my running, feel much better and stronger at the moment.

Good work Diddz!

I enjoyed races at Wombwell and the Wrap Up and Run at Graves Park over the past couple of Sundays. Nice to be back racing even if I am still a way short of 100%. Got Dronfield next in a week or two.

Anyone else got any races planned?

SY half marathon on 17th march which is tester for Blackpool marathon 3weeks later. will decide after SY what target pace for Blackpool will be.

-25lbs now to Monday 25 Feb - you can barely see me on a side profile now

Doing Accelerates Head Torch run tonight - they are bringing some Salamon shoes and Petzl headtorches to try out - should be a good bit of fun.

Wil miss the some of the races around as we are going to Florida over easter for 2 weeks so don't want to risk injury prior to going and there are a few races I'll miss while away (I think the SY 5M series and Trunce for example).

Enjoy America Didds. I know I did

I'll hopefully be back to parkrunning tomorrow morning. Jet lag since I've been home has been horrendous so I've not run yet. I might yet be able to run SIGISHM2K13 in a parkrun 50 t-shirt though

ET are you getting back up to regular training yet?

GIRO what are you thinking pacewise for the marathon at the moment. Or are you leaving it until you run the half?

01/03/2013 at 14:18
Guess at the moment would be around 6:45-50min mile pace and seeing what's in the tank at 20miles to finish around 2:55.00

Hoping for a 1:22.00 -1:23.00 half at SY on 17th which would make new target of 2:49.00ish. Been working on finishing long runs at a fast pace ie. 18mile run other week was first 7 @ 8mm, next 5 @ 7:30mm and last 5 @ 7mm

I did want to get in 2:45.00 shape but injury and 2x bouts of gastrointestinal problems have curtailed that

Cheers for asking Baz. Getting there. Done 20 odd miles pw for a few weeks now but just running steady really.

GI - ambitious mara goals with those health hurdles but the SY race should tell you a fair bit. Might be good if it's windy at SY to prepare for Blackpool -?

heard on news last night Don Valley is to close  and be pulled down was also in Yorkshire post paper my father gets    wonder what will happen to the half marathon then  where will it go from

It`ll be replaced by Tesco or Sainsbury`s. Or IKEA , seeing a they got turned down recently. Not quite such a good race base but their shelving is very reasonable and they sell meaty horseballs in their caff.

ET, I think sub 3 is definately achievable as long as I pace it right and if I can put in a good 1/2 marathon time on the 17th march then 2:55:00 is not beyond me. The 2:49:00 would mean I have had an exceptional marathon and things have gone right. The fact I will probably be undercooked going into it might mean fresher legs.

2:45:00 I pretty much know is beyond me but you never know.

According to my source in the council, Don valley will most lijely be replaced by a medical research facility and a specially built rugby ground for the eagles (they have a grant to build one) but a second centretainment park was touted

There are a couple of epetitions asking the council to save it, have signed but not sure they will do any good!

Yeah, Baz, I`ve signed it too.

Nice to see Tony Minichello not hold back on his opinion.

you could be right  ET     well spen 20 for me on sunday   hoping to beat 2h30

07/03/2013 at 11:26

Don't IKEA keep getting turned down for traffic reasons?

I still can't believe they are going to demolish Don Valley before it's even paid for. I still can't believe they are still paying for it given it was built in 1990 and didn't appear to cost all that much.

Good luck with that GIRO. How do you feel your training has gone. Illness breaks aside.

07/03/2013 at 11:43
Baz, training has gone pretty well when I have not been ill. In fact surprisingly I think it's gone better for the enforced rest periods. Also had a change of attitude from my last block of marathon training two year ago. Then again I have been training hard pretty much for over a year so the only change I made was less interval sessions and more tempo runs of 6-10miles + longer long runs.

Got a 3hr time on feet run to do tomorrow which I am guessing will be 24miles approx & saturday i may run from home to hillsborough to direct the parkrun & lucas's first swimmimg bath experience. Should finish week on 75-80miles.

then easy week next week before the SY half. After that its taper time.

How's your running comeback going?

It's going pretty well. Building up nicely and I'm not knackered after 10 minutes any more I think I've ran more this year than I did in the whole of last year. SIGISHM2K13 is going to be tough but I should be able to manage it.
