Some good points and taking those into consideration to clarify I would have to make a judgement decision for family who are not as close, but for my own Children, I'd still protect whatever the issue, I would try to deal with things myself and wouldn't condone it but couldn't see my kids put away.

Not even for rape or murder?

No-one is saying you have to disown them entirely but would you actually lie to keep them out of jail (and potentially allow them to go out and find more victims)?

agree screamy (did i really say that???)
So you would actively help in disposing of bloodied clothes/hide a body if your own child asked you to?

It would be a truly awful situation to be in, also what if you are the parent of someone who finds them self in the position Amanda Knox was in?

Hard as that has to be I feel more sorry for Meredith Kercher's family who have to watch Amanda Knox make millions from her story.while still not knowing what really happened to their daughter/sister.

True primative tribal mentality.

Family first.

Then the tribe.

Fuck everyone else.

It's such a nasty affair because whether she is guilty or innocent, she has the weight of Hollywood behind her becasue they know a film script is there.

I'm with you and completely disagree with any money being made by the Kercher's through media interest. These things shouldn't be about what you can gain financially but just base human emotion and connection. Money corrupts and it really does...

If she was wrongly convicted and imprisoned then financially compensate for that, but getting rich from selling the story for publication is outside my personl ethical framework.

I strongly disagree with Rik F and EKGO who would be complicit in murder and rape of children if it was their second cousin who did it.

Sussex Runner,

I wasn't agreeing with EKGO, he appears to think I was

My first duty is to the rest of society. If that means my own son 'cops it' so be it. Needless to say, this raises another issue of at what level do I draw the line.

Something worthy of jail.

Every time, no question.

The note about tribes is the world where dictators come from, Saddam Hussein, Gadafi. See, Family first, then their tribe, fuck everyone else. Primitive.

Democracy. Advanced.

No Ric I think it's abundantly clear you disagree, however you do actually get it

Just out of interest EKGO - how far would you go to protect your children from the law knowing they might have committed the very worst of crimes?

Because if you are so certain you would, you must have given it some thought.

As Dustin asked - diposing of a weapon? Bloodied clothing? Helping to bury a body?

Or if its that you don't know then be honest and say so rather than swearing to stick by them no matter what.

Because I believe that you can't know for sure - and if you do then I really wouldn't want you as my next door neighbour!

I know this isn't the very worst of crimes... but I love this dad's reaction to his son getting caught after trying to burgle a takeaway in Australia...

I'd bury them in your garden and frame you

Hmm...your question dodging is quite concerning.

But, you know, if they catch junior, they'll catch you too - and it will be just as much fun for you as it is for them in the nick. But still, you're prepared for that aren't you?

Didn't someone's parents recently both get a few years inside for ripping up their sons confession to murder and got rid off some evidence?

I see your point.

A situation that thankfully most us will never have to deal with.

And what would I do if a member of my family chucked a paedophile off Beachy Head?

Oh! er!

There would be one less Children's Doctor around, I guess.

Why would anyone chuck a paediatrician off Beachy Head?
