The person I'm about to talk about never comes on the thread but she's a very good friend of mine and a fellow Stockport Harrier to us all. She doesn't even know I'm doing this and when she finds out she'll probably be hugely embarrassed as she doesn't like a fuss. Anyway, I'm sure some of you already know that last year Jenny Knass was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and spent most of the year having intense chemotherapy treatment. It soon became apparent that running was out of the question so it was decided that friends and family, some of which have never owned a pair of trainers would each pick an event, a 5k, a triathlon, the 3 Peaks, to name a few, in an attempt to raise as much money as possible for The Christie Hospital. My event was supposed to be the Manchester Marathon but that was kiboshed due to injury and unless a miracle happens, there's no way I'll be squeezing one in before this Sunday so this is my appeal for sponsorship on Jenny's behalf. Like many of you on here she's been training throughout the summer for an autumn marathon and is off to Amsterdam on Saturday to run in the marathon on Sunday. Since August last year over £13,000 has been raised and as Jenny's marathon is the final challenge we're hoping that we might hit the £13,500 target. I realise none of you really know Jenny so there's no pressure but I just wanted to let you have the opportunity to contribute just in case. Any donatations will be hugely appreciated by her family and friends as The Christie has been fantastic.

Stop talking about Manchester Marathon...I said I wasn't doing it but all this talk is starting to make me think twice about it.

Nice post JS. I see Jenny quite often running around the Heatons.  GBM, she will more than likely run sub 3 unless she is "using it as a training run".  I think you should sponsor her for £10 every minute she beats you by.

BHB--Thanks for dominating me for that deal! Last time i spoke to Jenny (or was it Dave Turnbull?) she was considering 2.50 ish. So if she does that and i have a bad race/blow up, erm, i mean 'i decide part way through to use it as a training run' then that could be costly. And now you've made me look like a right tight git for worrying about how many hundreds of pounds i might have to sponsor a very worthy cause! Thanks!

I have developed a touch of plantar fasciitis, which I am blaming on the unaccustomed number of flat tarmac miles I have done recently, training for Preston 10M

however, it didn't stop me taking yesterday off work and doing 9 hours out in the Lakes

I started feeling a bit rough yesterday afternoon, felt absolutely drained on a 5 miler yesterday evening,  felt really light-headed afterwards and still feel a bit rubbish this morning. I can't decide whether the virus has got a second wind or if i've picked up another one. But its only Weds morning and Sunday morning is ages away! Luton Marathon, 18th Nov! Hmmmmmm!  

Jonah8--I will see how i feel tomorrow and let you know whether i will be at the track. 

GBM-give your body a rest, the next 3 days aren't going to make that much difference, as you'll be running at a set pace, you don't need to "sharpen up", you'll be there on the start line, you might feel a bit lethargic at the start but you'll be fine once you get into it, thank goodness, i got rid of that virus

GBM - TB is right, whatever training you do this week will not have any bearing on Sunday.
