not the same epic importance as GBM's sub-3 mara, but I went sub-80 at Preston 10M this morning - 1:19:59, oh yes
my splits were all over the place though - might post them later if they're not tooo embarrassing...
Well done Daz! When are you having a crack at a marathon?
Daz--Well done!! 1.19.59 is Hollywood stuff and much more important than my sub 3 that even i'm bored of now!
Just giving everyone loads of notice!!!
Jonahs Xmas Grindleford Recce!! Friday 28th December. Morning but exact time tba.

Daz - What a great day for racing, well done.
PPP - I called to collect the watch strap, thanks. There was no car on the drive so I didn't knock on. Don't want you thinking I was being anti-social!
it was indeed perfect race weather: cool, sunny, no windyou'd think 1:19:59 would indicate some under-conrol/regular splits, but er... no!7:36 - oops!7:568:038:19 (slight amount of uphill)7:59 for 39:53 at halfway8:008:148:14 (oh deary me, couple of dodgy miles, 21 secs over, need a couple of 7:50's to finish, and it's that blasted "uphill" mile coming )8:06 (not bad, but need to finish in 7:30ish )7:32 - held this last mile together remarkably well - this "training" lark really works! - looked down at my watch just after crossing the chip mat (had started it as I crossed the mat at the start) to see 1:20:01 so anxious wat til official resultswent up... paged nervously down the results... past 1:20 gun time... there's my name... 1:20:14... chip time... 1:19:59
can now aim for sub-1:45 for half-mara, but still no desire to do a full
Great running DTS. I can't imagine there'll be many last mile=fastest mile stories from S10.
That's a good time BHB but you appear to have lost to a child?
Thanks for pointing that out RB. I guess it depends which way you look at it...he could have been thinking "I can't be beaten by someone old enough to be my Dad"!
I possibly should have beaten him but he flew up the steps on the last lap whilst I tip-toed up them like a wimp. I guess he created a 20 metre gap (as he also did on the first lap, so I had been warned). Waiting for PPP or someone else to give it a go - interested to see how others run it.
DTS, those splits aren't too inconcistent and to run the fastest time for your last mile is always a good thing.

Please can I remind you all to sponsor my fantastic tache. You will be grateful of my efforts when you need your prostate zapped with a bit of radiotherapy.
Obviously it doesn't require a load of effort to not shave my top lip so am not expecting significant amounts but every little helps.
