JMC- Interesting article, anybody want to buy some new trainers

FOAR - Meeting GBM at Rose Hill again, then running to Woodbank to do the park run.

FOAR/Anyone--SATURDAY MORNING RUN! Same as last week- Meet at Rose Hill at 8am, run 5 miles to Woodbank Park, do Park Run, run back to Rose Hill then maybe a few miles on the MW. Looking to do about 16 miles.

Here's the info: 

The start area will be at the cross roads of Wood Lane West/East/South/North, outside the Miners Arms. The finish area will be on the Canal path just before the kissing gate, next to the Lyme Breeze.

Route: Starting from the Miners Arms – Wood Ln Sth – Schoolfold Lane – Macclesfield Canal – Hole House CP – Middlewood Way – Coppice CP – Shrigley Rd – Hagg Farm path – Macclesfield Canal

J8-keep an open mind, i think part of the BHF report is based on the Scandinavian study of ultra running over the last 20 years and the affect of long distance on the heart, still it's good for the manufacturers of pacemakers.

TB - since you're probably the only one on this thread older than I am, I hope that your comments aren't just wishful thinking. Scary article.

With possible PF, falling trees (hope you're OK SW - could have been so much worse) and now increased mortality rates for older runners, I might give this up and take up smoking and drinking.....

 Its a good job I am  hefty and have a big thick skull  - if I was a delicate little thing it would have been worse. Was a bit of a shock though - one minute trotting along on autopilot thinking about what I was going to have for my dinner and next lying under a tree with a sore head.

Damn trees - some clever arse at work has already started calling me Twiggy.

BB-you may be older than most of the threadites, but you look and run like one of the youngest, it's certainly not wishful thinking, i took more than a passing interest, when the fellrunner i regularly train with developed a problem, i'll elaborate when i next see you but i think life's a balance (hence the extra rest day)

Interesting article JMC I'd be interested to hear about your test sometime.  I always thought I'd be ok if I stayed below 50% of NI's mileage.

Does JMC's study include that old chestnut of being struck by a tree like SW?  What a lucky escape you had. 

Mort I gave the money for the 4V to J8 last night who is going to give it to GBM who is going to give it to you.  If you don't get the £20 then blame them.

J8, fyi splits were 6:23; 6:14; 6:11; 6:18; 6:15 and 6:24.  I think the differences are because 4 laps in lane 2/3 is more than a mile so some of my these mile splits would have had more slow than fast. Nonetheless good effort!

Quite an impressive range of running routes on my Garmin this week. Oslo, London Docklands and finally Stockport Harriers track. I'm afraid it won't include Wythenshawe Park however - sorry JMC.

Seems like you're damned if you do and damned if you don't! We're all gonna die someday so you might as well do what you enjoy while you can.

Is the XC at 2:30pm tomorrow btw? I don't want to get the start time wrong like I did at Woodbank last winter!

NI - yes, the Senior/Junior/Vet Men's Race starts at 2.30pm tomorrow. Park near the track.

clairster- You've ruined it for GBM now. I think he was hoping to 'dispose' of it all before the weekend. I told him I would give it to CC and WITGB for safekeeping as they are more trustworthy

Good effort Clairster.  Morticia - keep them away from GBM.

FOAR - are you doing the Stockport 10 reccie in the morning?  Anyone else?  It will be a really easy pace.  Because of putting the resident signs up on the first estate it took nearly an hour to do the first 3 miles last year and then an hour for the remaining 7 miles.

Also, does anyone want to assist Brian in collecting all the signage after the S10 next week?  Mr S is helping him set it up but then has to disappear to witness humiliation first hand.  Maybe one of those people who is actually running the race and wants to give something back!

UB (and anyone else) - do you want any involvement next week?
