The Hebden will go ahead as long as the roads stay openwhen I reccied it recently it was very boggy/muddy, so a bit of snow on the now perma-frosted ground should actually improve matters
stopped snowing in Runcorn now - a good 3 inch covering - if the 4V roads have been gritted they could be OK...
Well I've been looking for an excuse not to do this race all week... pretend I've got a cold, bad back, missed some training sessions, overweight, not fit enough, might get injured, blah, blah, blah
But to honest, I just couldn't be arsed driving there and racing in the cold and slush... so I'm out and going for a bike ride instead. I could 'man up' but who gives a f**k.
Daz, the back lanes in 4V won't be gritted. It's not going to be a pleasant day.
You're right SARQ the 4V roads have never been gritted.
But run through the drifts in Lyme Park would be more fun than bike ride.

Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
Old Mother Nature's recipes
That brings the bare necessities of life
Wherever I wander, wherever I roam
I couldn't be fonder of my big home
The bees are buzzin' in the tree
To make some honey just for me
When you look under the rocks and plants
And take a glance at the fancy ants
Then maybe try a few
The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!
That's why a bear can rest at ease
With just the bare necessities of life
Now when you pick a pawpaw
Or a prickly pear
And you prick a raw paw
Next time beware
Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw
When you pick a pear
Try to use the claw
But you don't need to use the claw
When you pick a pear of the big pawpaw
Have I given you a clue ?
So just try and relax, yeah cool it
Fall apart in my backyard '
Cause let me tell you something little britches
If you act like that bee acts, uh uh
You're working too hard
And don't spend your time lookin' around
For something you want that can't be found
When you find out you can live without it
And go along not thinkin' about it I'll tell you something true
And it usually involves running or baking cakes, eh !
Time to get a few more races on!

ES, I don't think you have used the correct font for our race list. You should use the font that starts to fade as the race approaches and is invisible about 5 days before it.
Having said that I am not looking forward to 4V. Not because it is cold or that I an unfit etc, but 'cos I think it could well be a bit of a farce.
Oh, just seen JMC's post - doesn't say that on the website.
I've just heard it is cancelled. That was from Adrian Themiecke (Cheshire AAA) so probably right.
Stuart, JMC and I are heading up for some snow running in Lyme Park tomorrow. Meet at 8.00am Boars Head. Bring your dog.
19 JANUARY: With great regret, the race is cancelled. The course has been assessed by several experienced race organisers and is not safe to run. The police would not pass the route on their inspection tomorrow so we wanted to give people as much notice as we could. There are long stretches of compacted snow which will not shift in the next 24 hours. We've been working hard with shovels to clear the club area, but the real problem is out on the country lanes which are not clear. We really enjoy putting on the race and putting back into the community, but it's simply not safe for our runners. Please spread the word.
We'll try and get some pictures up later to show you the state of the course.
To everyone that has entered and supported us in this great race — SORRY!
We'll be in touch with more information when we have it. Thanks!
11:49am, 19 January
Only just seen the posts about the Lyme Park run - I am meeting RC for a hilly 20miler tomorrow, meeting 8.30am, top of Shearwater Road (just before 17 Windows) then heading up to Marple Ridge , Disley, Lyme Park if anyone fancies that. May see some of you in Lyme Park.
