FOAR - the Village Bakery number is all yours if you want it.  Let me know and we can then get an email sent to change the details.

Anyone want a Manchester marathon number?  I think I paid £45 to enter but I'm willing to offer a generous discount to a good home!

ES- if foar doesn't want it. I might.

Why arent you doing the races? Are you injured?
01/02/2013 at 21:02
PPP - It's because I've just entered!

Q. How do you make a 20 mile run on the Middlewood Way interesting?

A. Split it into 4 x 5 mile runs.
02/02/2013 at 07:55

PPP - I've been struggling for 4 months with sciatica but that isn't the reason I've ducked out.  To be totally honest the reason is because I just don't want to put in the long runs at the weekend - a) because I don't like them, and b) new role at work means potentially longer hours during the week which means I want to spend more time doing family stuff at weekends.

I still manage to get 50 - 60 miles in a week by running to/from work so my fitness should stay pretty good.  I have some great running events to look forward to, starting tomorrow with the Mickledon Straddle and then Grindleford, the Coast to Coast and finally Bullock, with some great fell races thrown in between.

Not putting in the 20+ mile training runs in makes running a competitive marathon unrealistic.  And of course, JMC has just entered!

I had a nightmare lastnight. I dreamt that Eric had finally thrown in the towel and conceded defeat. I realised a massive void had opened up in my life. How on earth was I going to cope, who could fill this empty hole? How would I replace the high of beating him?

Woke up this morning and it's true. In keeping with tradition Eric's announcement was accompanied by an unfeasible excuse, new role at work!

BHB - please take Eric's marathon entry!
02/02/2013 at 08:48

JMC - the 'new role at work' excuse isn't the excuse. The 'spending more time doing family stuff' is the only excuse.  Being busier during the week at work means less family time during the week which I intend to make up for at the weekends - family first, running second.  Funny how the family want me to carry on with the weekend running though.

02/02/2013 at 12:42
ES - that explains why your missus looked so fed up on Tuesday. She's probably dreading the weekend!

Only kidding......,
02/02/2013 at 13:26
Eric, I don't blame you. I'm not doing Manchester either. Not because I don't want to give JMC a good Kicking again. . But there's no way I can commit to all the long runs I'll need to go sub 2.45.
Would have wanted to do bupa 10k but too close to another race.
And at the moment I just couldnt be arsed. Sights are at on world age group champs in September and I'm contemplating a half iron man.
02/02/2013 at 14:06
SARQ-So the ironing last week was part of your training?
02/02/2013 at 14:22
Still BHB's age group champs includes going to the shops, moaning about youngsters, commenting on how young the policemen look, filling a tartan shopper up and back again. I saw him training the other day, seeing how far he could get on public transport before elevensies at the Derby and Joan club.

Ppp and he's not even the oldest on this thread.

Good run this morning, fastest 20 miler I've done this year, thanks to all who turned up.

GBM - Get well soon

UB - Hope the foot gets better

After my run I had another trip to the cardiologist, couldn't believe I'd just ran 20 miles,I was his first patient who'd done that before an examination.

Still concerned about my large septum so he wants to wire me up for 24 hours but wants me to wear it for a run!!!

I've got to go back and have it measured again, then 12 months later, if it hasn't got any bigger they will discharge me, he says it's all down to running but doesn't want to take any risks

Nice to see a familiar face on the MW this morning, she was flying.

Here is a conundrum that some might think is a postive development, but not me. I keep getting notices that PPP has added something to the thread but for whatever reason, I can't see anything he has added to it. He has completely disappeared from the thread I am looking at. I miss his witty entries. Any suggestions?

J8 - hopefully that is good news from your cardiologist. At least he hasn't stopped you from running. Are you sure he is a real cardiologist though? I didn't know they worked on Saturdays!

02/02/2013 at 18:24

BB- Sorry Cardiologist clinic, he was a doctor giving me the results of my recent ECG's

Go to settings at the bottom of the main page and you can un block him there.

UB- Forgot to say thanks for the film.

02/02/2013 at 18:44

Thanks J8. PPP has reappeared now, but to my surprise he is going on about ironing rather than irony!

02/02/2013 at 18:51

BB-do you really want to unblock him

J8-hopefully good news, sorry i couldn't stop this morning, i was preparing to fly , ran 17 miles.

02/02/2013 at 20:24
BB - That is definitely part of the age group test, working new fangled technology. Looks like BHB has got the upper hand in this particular battle of the silver tops.
I think you will find that blocking me is actually the default position for most of the thread, hence your difficulties.

J8 - I better not insert any jokes about you being a coffin dodger. But very glad to hear it sounds like positive news. Any one could have told the specialists that you were just big hearted!
