Anyone got Jayne Lawtons home phone number. She set off on a tempo run with us but we got separated when me and Kev stopped for a wee and no sign of her since. She hasn't answered my text checking where she got to

Panic over, she's back at home.

20 ish early ish sunday anyone?
01/02/2013 at 12:59

How early, and what route?  20 miles is a bit long for me, so a route that I can take a short cut would be preferred.

Or better still you could do 4 before meeting up, which would allow me 30 minutes extra in bed and then a 16 mile route.

BHB - sounds like a plan, I will do 4 then meet you at 9? are you happy enough to loop through chorlton then back on the mersey?
01/02/2013 at 14:17
JMC - Were you regaling her with one of your anecdotes about hand crafted wardrobes by any chance?
01/02/2013 at 15:11

PPP - no, hadn't event got that far. I think it was something BT said!

Have just got round to entering Manchester Marathon and booked a place in the Old Trafford car park in the process. Will be room for 4 or 5 in my car, no point giving Man Utd extra cash if we can avoid it.

BHB - have you entered yet?

01/02/2013 at 15:41
JMC - I think most people will be running there and doing it as part of a training session with a few mp miles, wont they? except BHB who will be joining it from the ten mile marker, they are setting up a special pen for him (actually it is a zimmer), so you might need to drop him off further up the course, early doors.

In fact anyone using the "Hanson' method should probably start with BHB.
01/02/2013 at 16:35

I think I will do what PPP has said.  Run there, shout at the Harriers as they pass by, and then run home.  I have decided I don't want to run a marathon thank you.  And I think I am following the Hadd method.

01/02/2013 at 18:06
So 9 on sunday it is then old timer?
01/02/2013 at 20:32

FOAR - the Village Bakery number is all yours if you want it.  Let me know and we can then get an email sent to change the details.

Anyone want a Manchester marathon number?  I think I paid £45 to enter but I'm willing to offer a generous discount to a good home!

ES- if foar doesn't want it. I might.

Why arent you doing the races? Are you injured?
01/02/2013 at 21:02
PPP - It's because I've just entered!

Q. How do you make a 20 mile run on the Middlewood Way interesting?

A. Split it into 4 x 5 mile runs.
02/02/2013 at 07:55

PPP - I've been struggling for 4 months with sciatica but that isn't the reason I've ducked out.  To be totally honest the reason is because I just don't want to put in the long runs at the weekend - a) because I don't like them, and b) new role at work means potentially longer hours during the week which means I want to spend more time doing family stuff at weekends.

I still manage to get 50 - 60 miles in a week by running to/from work so my fitness should stay pretty good.  I have some great running events to look forward to, starting tomorrow with the Mickledon Straddle and then Grindleford, the Coast to Coast and finally Bullock, with some great fell races thrown in between.

Not putting in the 20+ mile training runs in makes running a competitive marathon unrealistic.  And of course, JMC has just entered!

I had a nightmare lastnight. I dreamt that Eric had finally thrown in the towel and conceded defeat. I realised a massive void had opened up in my life. How on earth was I going to cope, who could fill this empty hole? How would I replace the high of beating him?

Woke up this morning and it's true. In keeping with tradition Eric's announcement was accompanied by an unfeasible excuse, new role at work!

BHB - please take Eric's marathon entry!
02/02/2013 at 08:48

JMC - the 'new role at work' excuse isn't the excuse. The 'spending more time doing family stuff' is the only excuse.  Being busier during the week at work means less family time during the week which I intend to make up for at the weekends - family first, running second.  Funny how the family want me to carry on with the weekend running though.

02/02/2013 at 12:42
ES - that explains why your missus looked so fed up on Tuesday. She's probably dreading the weekend!

Only kidding......,
02/02/2013 at 13:26
Eric, I don't blame you. I'm not doing Manchester either. Not because I don't want to give JMC a good Kicking again. . But there's no way I can commit to all the long runs I'll need to go sub 2.45.
Would have wanted to do bupa 10k but too close to another race.
And at the moment I just couldnt be arsed. Sights are at on world age group champs in September and I'm contemplating a half iron man.
