GBM - I hope everyone got your obscure Boston related joke and don't actually believe that I will do well..

J8 - At the track tomorrow. Amazed to hear that we are now allowed to serve alcohol though !

Jonah/FOAR - jealous now, you will love Boston, just remember to go to
Giacomo's on Columbus Ave to neck heumungus amounts of pasta. Also Addis Red Sea on Tremont St for Ethiopian nosh. Enjoy.

Poacher - Thanks for last night, really helpful information.

Just booked tickets for the Saturday, Boston Red Sox vs Tampa Bay Rays

Leg feels a little better today, looks like a proper taper( no running)

J8 - Can't make sat morning as I have the kids. Looks like I'll have to run lunchtime/early afternoon.

Virtual Lurker--Thanks for lurking around Middlewood station and for pulling me along for a couple of miles.

Lovely couple of days in the Lakes. Views were spectacular.

I would like to do Boston, always fancied a visit. But Chicago sounds flatter and has more Art galleries, so that would be a good one for me and the OH.

Poacher- how is it going?

what races/marathon/s are you doing?

I enjoyed your marathon talk interview a while back.

J8- I would love to go to a baseball game. Only because of Don Dilillo's "Underworld". Tampa Bay Rays? I thought that was a terrible name, but actually it is pretty good. If they win will it be Champers for the Tampa"s. If they lose If will put a Dampners on the Tampa"s. Of course, if they win but have an illustrious history though have suffered a poor run of recent results, it could be a "Kink in fortunes creates Waterloo Sunset for the Rays". Not sure if that actually makes any sense, but who cares?

One of the pleasures I have had in joining the gym recently, other than watching Susanna Reid in the mornings, is that I have actually seen WITGB on telly. Not only does he look in great shape and very, very healthy, but yesterday he seemed to be interviewing Helen Clitheroe! The sound is always down so it is hard to gather what is going on though.

RC - no problem struggling a bit with my leg so I would of only slowed you down. Best of luck at the VLM , it's been a pleasure training with you since before Christmas, thanks for the company. Go for it a sub 2.45 is there for the taking.

PPP. Chicago is next on the list, next October

Just entered my autumn marathon - Frankfurt. Got dirt cheap flights too. Anyone fancy it?
03/04/2013 at 22:16

TST--Even i left that one alone! The joke, not the food!

NI--Did you get injured doing Wilmslow or have you been resting? I've noticed on fetch that i'm doing more miles than you. Also! Have you got my ticket for the gig on Friday or have i got it?

J8 - bloody hell, you might as well emigrate! go live in Boulder Colorado, great weather and apparently, even if it snows they plough the running trails before the roads. (according to marathon talk).

Nexus- great choice. Jack told me that Patrick is doing it? Maybe you could get Andi Jones on board and as long as he wears his Stockport vest you could win the team prize .

Seriously, I would say it is the equal fastest marathon course I have run. You can get good hotels right by the start/finish.

17-ish miles on sunday anyone?
03/04/2013 at 22:44

GBM No worries good run you should do well with that kind of speed.

03/04/2013 at 23:02

Jonah - that will be a good night out at Fenway Park, you wil love it. Bear in mind that it can be cold later on and baseball games can last for hours so take a jacket.

PPP - Chicago is a very cultural city, and it sounds like you are already aware that the mara is fast and flat. Not quite got the kudos of Boston though.

Been away working in Africa this yr and largely unable to train + injured so v v slow at the moment.

I saw WITGB on the Strines Rd last night, he looked fast and very focussed.

GBM what are you planning to do to prove that your sub 3 was not a fluke?

04/04/2013 at 06:50

PPP- Forgot to mention I dropped £20 off for you at the tuck shop on Tuesday.

04/04/2013 at 09:14

Poacher--I've been studying the work of Derren Brown and i'm now fairly confident that i can brainwash everyone into thinking my sub 3 wasn't a fluke. Then again, maybe its just that Derren has made me think i can brainwash everyone!  My training this year has been very stop/start due to illness and work but over the last 6 weeks i've finally got some decent mileage in and during the last 3 weeks my running has definitely improved. I doubt i'm fit enough to go sub 3 at VLM but i'm going to give it a go anyway!  Are you doing VLM?

04/04/2013 at 09:55
GBM - I have a gun if you want to try shooting yourself in front of live audience if the sub 3 goes tits up?

J8 - thanks! v kind of you. Hope the taper is working! I bet you and Foxy have been having a few peeks at the long range forecast?

Also HUGE thanks everyone who has posted me cheques. A v generous lot you are?

Poacher - unfortunately, I don't think either of those trips will be happening. But I would love to do Boston. Sorry the training is suffering. Where in Africa are you doing your "work" training, is it all over?

PPP, I've got a 25mile TT on Sat, so may join you on Sun if you go early enough and your drains don't block again.
