TST--Even i left that one alone! The joke, not the food!

NI--Did you get injured doing Wilmslow or have you been resting? I've noticed on fetch that i'm doing more miles than you. Also! Have you got my ticket for the gig on Friday or have i got it?

J8 - bloody hell, you might as well emigrate! go live in Boulder Colorado, great weather and apparently, even if it snows they plough the running trails before the roads. (according to marathon talk).

Nexus- great choice. Jack told me that Patrick is doing it? Maybe you could get Andi Jones on board and as long as he wears his Stockport vest you could win the team prize .

Seriously, I would say it is the equal fastest marathon course I have run. You can get good hotels right by the start/finish.

17-ish miles on sunday anyone?

GBM No worries good run you should do well with that kind of speed.

Jonah - that will be a good night out at Fenway Park, you wil love it. Bear in mind that it can be cold later on and baseball games can last for hours so take a jacket.

PPP - Chicago is a very cultural city, and it sounds like you are already aware that the mara is fast and flat. Not quite got the kudos of Boston though.

Been away working in Africa this yr and largely unable to train + injured so v v slow at the moment.

I saw WITGB on the Strines Rd last night, he looked fast and very focussed.

GBM what are you planning to do to prove that your sub 3 was not a fluke?

04/04/2013 at 06:50

PPP- Forgot to mention I dropped £20 off for you at the tuck shop on Tuesday.

Poacher--I've been studying the work of Derren Brown and i'm now fairly confident that i can brainwash everyone into thinking my sub 3 wasn't a fluke. Then again, maybe its just that Derren has made me think i can brainwash everyone!  My training this year has been very stop/start due to illness and work but over the last 6 weeks i've finally got some decent mileage in and during the last 3 weeks my running has definitely improved. I doubt i'm fit enough to go sub 3 at VLM but i'm going to give it a go anyway!  Are you doing VLM?

04/04/2013 at 09:55
GBM - I have a gun if you want to try shooting yourself in front of live audience if the sub 3 goes tits up?

J8 - thanks! v kind of you. Hope the taper is working! I bet you and Foxy have been having a few peeks at the long range forecast?

Also HUGE thanks everyone who has posted me cheques. A v generous lot you are?

Poacher - unfortunately, I don't think either of those trips will be happening. But I would love to do Boston. Sorry the training is suffering. Where in Africa are you doing your "work" training, is it all over?

PPP, I've got a 25mile TT on Sat, so may join you on Sun if you go early enough and your drains don't block again.

PPP - Chicago is undoubtedly flatter than Boston but don't dismiss the latter because of its arts scene, which is not very different to Chicago's for the range and quality of galleries, musuems and the performing arts. And although The Poacher faced a freak heat wave in Boston last year, Chicago is typically a 'hotter' race, with one being stopped before most of the runners had reaced the 15 mile point a few years ago. In spite of the old adage that lightning doesn't strike twice, I for one hope that this year's Boston temps return to the average of 8-9C at the start with no more than a 4-5C rise by the finish.

PPP will drop sponsor money off over the weekend.

Minnie - I assume your views were similar to the ones I got on Monday:

PPP - yes, Patrick will be making his marathon debut at Frankfurt.

GBM - I have got your ticket. I should be in town from around 4ish. Text / phone me when you get out and we can arrange to meet up. I'm not injured btw, just a bit behind logging my training. I'd be very surprised if you are doing more miles than me at the moment!

04/04/2013 at 13:29

J8 - Thanks also for the company, we'll start them up again when York training starts. Best of luck for Boston and enjoy your trip.

BHB - cheers, don't fancy 17 with me and (possibly) sarq sunday morning? what about Nexus?
04/04/2013 at 16:07

Possibly - what time you setting off and what route?  I want to cut out some miles and increase speed, so if the route has a shortcut then that would be more appealing.

04/04/2013 at 17:35
probably head to Sarqs (if he is running) At Levenshulme pick up the cycle loop to Chorlton, carry on to Stretford, join the mersey. If you leave the mersey at the Water park it cuts out 4 miles as it is about 7 following the river or 3 going back via Cemetery/Fog Lane to mine (obviously another k or so for you.

I don't mind when we set off but would favour getting to you at say 8 and therefore Sarq just after?

Indeed Boston on a nice cold day could be fast, keep lots in hand over the largely downhill first half, then hold on, power up the hills at 17-21, and once
Heartbreak is done, more downhill. Chicago is very different, genuinely pretty flat and also an interesting city, but can be warm.

GBM - sub 3, you can do it. I haven't really trained, got a couple of chums who want pacing so it's either 3.14 or 3.39 fancy dress job.

PPP - Algeria & Sudan where the lads have big 4x4s with a massive machine gun mounted on the back, just the job for getting along the A6. Nice.

Good running all.

TB - Have you ever heard of a place called "Mirror Hill" supposedly near Glossop...?

05/04/2013 at 08:26

PPP--I dropped your sponsorship money off at the tuck shop last night.
