NI/UB. Thanks for the run, that was one tough run.
Ended up doing 24 miles, we got a taxi from Buxton station to the quarry between Chelmorton check point and Earl Sterndale then ran back to Hazel Grove, NI found another couple of short cuts, so it's looking good for another record round.
J8/NI/UB. 24 miles must have been pretty warm today. Sale Sizzler was warm enough and that was only 5k. You can be sure of a record if you get a taxi again!
5 mile recovery this morning, felt pretty easy considering yesterday's effort.
going to chill out in the garden and top the old tan up
J8 - you should have done the straw race, 2.5 pints drunk in a 2.5 mile race, I possibly finished heavier than I started.
If anyone fancies anything different the oxenhope straw race has a course record of 15 mins,(Ian Holmes) that is 2.5 miles, 2.5 pints of beer a run down into oxenhope then carry a full bale up the other side of the valley. Women get half the beer and half a bale. We were beaten by mgmt. and little tst. Good fun even if you are not competitive
RB is probably too modest to mention it but Mini Bob 1 represented England in the International Youth Cup in Gap, France over the weekend, finishing 23rd overall and 2nd Brit.
TST - well done on your straw race - sounds more challenging than Boars Head!
BB - If you are at the track tinight I will bring your prize from Whaley, which you were also too modest to mention !
Debdale was hell yesterday but plenty of prize winners from Stockport..
Well done to all racers and runners this weekend.
My Bullock Smithy/Valencia Marathon training starts today! Its too bloody hot though!!!
Thanks PPP. My pacing was shocking - first 800 was silly, and after that it was a gradual slowdown to about 10k pace. Surprised to have won the age category. You would think that after 10 years running I would have sorted pacing out by now. Would be nice to run a -ve split next time.
Kwaka, I think I will be working away on Wednesday. But if not I might run the Offy 10k if there are places left - I have never ran it before.
BB - Apologies if you turned up expecting me to bring your prize. Very late change of plan unfortunately.
I will be posting on here this evening with plans for this Fridays evenings BS Recce.
Also, we need to sort out transport plans for the BG weekend. Who is driving and who needs a lift? x
GBM - I will need a lift please. What time are you planning on heading up there on Thursday? At the moment I am working until 5:00.
GBM - I have a cheap train ticket booked for the Thursday lunchtime so won't require a lift thanks.
I'm cancelling Fridays BS recce as quite a few are struggling to make it. We can reschedule it for another day.
Instead!!! Saturday morning long run. 8am at Rose Hill for a run into and around Lyme Park. 18 miles ish. All welcome.
That was tough in that heat today - 27 miles. 38 tomorrow but at least it will be a bit cooler!
eric - take a tanker for your water, bladders will not be enough. Impressive stuff
Great stuff Eric - keep it going!
Good work eric!
