This report is expected to annoy me

Is it just me, or does anyone else get driven barmy by so-called "news" programs whose main items are predicting what a report or survey coming out later that day is going to say?

Both Today and BBC Breakfast news bulletins today started with:
"The report from Lord Stevens' inquiry into the death of Princess Diania is expected to say....."
"The government is expected to announce the closure of a gazzilion post offices later today"
"The police are expected to name the two victims of the Ipswich serial killer"
It drives me nuts...why can't they wait til the news has happened, then report it, instead of trying to be one day ahead all the time?!?!?
Maybe the R4 program should be renamed "Tomorrow".

Rant over.

I agree, but sometimes they havr had press releases as a taster (although not on these stories) to get more coverage.

Spot on, Mr Dogs, sir. It really annoys me too.

I had to laugh a year or two back, when [someone...may have been Ron Atkinson] was expected to be appointed as the Aston Villa manager. They did the whole 'managerial career' review and had experts discussing what changes he would make, only to have it announced that he was staying at [Sheffield Wednesday?]

rant on TD - know what you mean........

Today had some completely numpty interviewing going on today about the Ipswich murders - interviewing the mother of a girl who was murdered 16 years ago that the Daily Hate [spit] said had similarities with the Ipswich murders - she was being asked questions on matters she knew nothing about as she hadn't even seen the news or read the papers..........it was very embarrassing

and why the feck they persist in giving airtime to Al-Fayed I have no idea - he is a sald, deluded, bitter, twisted man who thinks the sun shone out of Dodi's arse and refuses to believe there was no consipracy.............and he wonders why he doesn't get a knighthood??

Actually a seperate rant, I don't understand why we've spent £3 million on an inquiry into Diana's death, and are having a coroners inquest, also at huge expense. They did all that in France...the driver was pissed and/or drugged and driving too fast and no-one was wearing seatbelts. End of inquiry.

No, they'd all been fed Polonium 210, in a conspiracy between the Illuminati, the Royal family, the National Front and some dissident Martians.

I know it's true because a man down the pub told me...

Well here's some good news: A study has shown that circumcision can halve the risk of a man picking up the HIV infection that leads to Aids.

On Wednesday, Kevin de Cock, head of the World Health Organisation's HIV/Aids department, said ....

I never really did get round to what exactly Mr de Cock had to say, though :-)

I can never listen to any interview relating to doping in athletics if it involves Dick Pound...

I heard that Kevin de Cock story on PM on the the way home last night........his name was announced right at the end of the report...............I nearly lost control of the car as I was pissing myself laughing.........I think the reporter just managed to keep a straight face as she said the name........

it's called "nominative determinism" and started being called that in 1994 by new Scientist who reported that a paper on incontinence in the British Journal of Urology was authored by J.W. Splatt and D. Weedon!
