At least she is a professional dancer, so should have some interesting critique for the contestants rather than "for me, that was good"

How many months until the new series starts?! *bounces with excitement*

But now the celebs will be performing in front of all professional judges, was nice to have someone just discuss the performance without such a critical eye.

Is it because Alesha went to BGT that she's no longer doing Strictly

25/04/2012 at 15:40

Yes because Alesha went to BGT.

Wasn't impressed with Darcey Bussell last time either as she was very neutral and didn't add much.

However she was a one off guest and would was trying ti fit into an existing dynamic so I think it could be different when she is an official judge. I hope so. In theory she does bring all the right background.

Don't the one-off judges generally overmark and avoid any harsh criticism? Usually because they are on the show to plug something and don't want the public to think they are stroppy divas

I prefer the judging dynamic on the US version, Bruno, Len and Carrie-Ann. I don't know why they need four, but maybe need to have a woman on the panel to meet some kind of gender equality criteria.

Oh, that's a bit disappointing. I was hoping for one of the old Strictly Pros

On the plus side she is a dancer and has tried ballroom and latin as well so she'll have some idea on what to judge.

On the negative side I found her quite dull and cold when she was on it a few years ago. But maybe that was because she came on half-way through and when you have 5 judges commentating it gets a bit repetitive. So I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and hope she's better when she's there from the start.

*drums fingers impatiently waiting for September*

Resurrecting this thread after soo long!

Went to the gym and saw a guy who looked REALLY familiar - thought he must work at the gym or something so smiled and said hello, he looked a bit confused but smiled back ... as soon as I walked away, I realised he was Artem   I'll have to start going more often in the evenings!

I was just going to post that I saw someone from Strictly yesterday

Its the Third Space in Soho, he was there around 6.30pm last Tues. Happy hunting!

I just had a bizarre image of myself in Elmer Fudd mode creeping around the gym looking for Artem

Wow Xine - did he look as cool and moody as on Strictly!?

Was just saying yesterday, won't it be back in about a month or so?  Don't they have the 'introductory' show in mid Sept?

Not already! much as I love Strictly, not ready for it yet as it heralds winter and the approach of Christmas.

08/08/2012 at 12:34

It will be something to look forward to when the Olympics finish

Love your new name, Ironwolf

Just searched back through the thread from last year and the 'matching up' show was on 10th Sept  I'm going to scuttle across to DS and see what the gossip is on there!

Thanks LN - I thought it's appropriate now that I have a titanium hip joint!

08/08/2012 at 17:24

Impressive! Is it better than your real one was?

Is "The new improved Bionic Titanium Ironwolf" too long for a name?

Glad you are doing well Wolfie.

Strictly is what I associate with winter and as I'm still waiting for summer I'm having trouble getting excited about this so far.

Don't know yet, I am not allowed to stress it yet - another 5 weeks of healing to get through. However, I don't have the pain I've suffered for the past couple of years any more - in retrospect I should not have attempted to run the Brighton mara last year, couldn't do more than shuffle. Anyway, at least I know now why I haven't physically been able to run properly for the past couple of years. No more marathons/IM for me now, my surgeon says that's too much stress on the joint. So next season I will concentrate on shorter distances.

Soupy, that's much too much of a mouthful!
