What is
a) the saddest song you have heard
b) the saddest film you have seen.

For me:L

Song - In Paradisum, from Faure's requiem. Because that's what my mum wants played at her funeral. (Don't worry, mum is presently very healthy.)

FIlm - hhhmmmm, will get back to you with it!

I want the first aria from St. John Passion at my funeral... Followed by Poison by the Prodigy and some stuff by Ananda Shankar

Totally Agree with Beaches as the saddest film. Although along different lines Schindlers List and the Green Mile were also pretty depressing although excellent films!!

Sad song - somewhere over the rainbow - Eva Cassidy

Love Faure's Requiem also. Also that piece of music by John Taverner that was played at Princess Diana's funeral was pretty moving (name escapes me at the mo')

Song - The needle and the damage done (Neil Young)
Shine on you crazy diamond (Pink Floyd)
Barber's Adagio for strings

Films :poss Roman Polanski's Tess
Truly, madly, deeply
Jacob's Ladder
Watership Down

But with respect to yesterday's literary allusions, can't we have our favourite sad novels, poems, greek and Norse legends too? (Laura that one about Balder and the misletoe arrow always gets me)
