What do normal couples do?

My evenings and weekends with t'other half seem to revolve around swimming, running, bike rides, going to the gym, races, etc.

What do normal couples do?

...what, you mean we're not 'normal'?

Activities in order priority:

1. kids (for me) 1. Sleep (for ms Diamonds)

2. running

3. dog

4. watching lympics

5. visiting relatives

6. eating.

7. gardening

8. housework

Oh, and food....lots of food.

As far as my non-running friends are concerned, it's general consensus that we 'running types' are not normal

We run up to three times a week (at the moment), and cycle at weekends, my Squeeze goes swimming one evening a week - so that leaves a lot of time for eating, reading, watching a bit of telly, socialising 

We don't go out a great deal, but that's more inclination than not having time.

I agree - what's normal?

We do the following in no particular order

• BBQ's
• Dinner/cinema with friends
• Running/Cycling
• Doing up the house (clearing up the garden, doing stuff with mortar)
• Clearing up the house after construction works...

There is no normal, I suppose I mean those people who don't spend their lives training!

I guess asking on a running forum wasn't the best place to get non-training answers!

I think it also depends. I train a lot solo and hubby can choose if he wants to join in or not. As I tend to travel a lot with my work; we only really spend our weekends together and that's normally taken up with 'housey' stuff.

I read that as 'horsey' stuff

Well, this weekend Mrs P is working on Saturday so I'm going to drive over the Woodhead Pass for a picnic, then she is going to the Charity Sheld match at Villa Park on Sunday so I'm going to london for the marathon.

So what's "normal" Sarah? Is it my OH and me, whose lives revolve around sport, training and dog trials? Or my SiL who hates all sport so much she will walk out of the room if it is on the TV and is probably the only person in the country who is happy when a GB team or athlete doesn't win. She hates the Olympics and is always pleased if the British lose at anything.

Then again, OH and I likely aren't "normal" people but "normal" Pirates - I've done 8 Ironman races and 45 marathons and must be a bit odd because I really really enjoy training hard, and OH is a long distance swimmer, recently attempting to swim the Channel with SuperCaz and In the Blue.
