why is there so much spam on this site?

It's because they don't value the site and they don't value the people who use it.

(And they don't know what they're doing, either.)

Perhaps DF3 could come back to help with some suggestions.

Incidentally, does anyone remember Pek?

It was similar to Spam, though not quite as popular.  Not sure if it's still sold these days.

David/ Joseph/ whatever other names you use, no doubt they'll pop up on here now you are back, you are a pathetic excuse for a human being.

Wilkie - you're wrong.  People like me remove the spam.

To the OP - it would be helpful if, rather than just whining, you provided links to the spam.

17/05/2013 at 09:49

It also help if people don't reply to the spam.

Inter - not working too well clearing up the spam, there still all those "things you..." threads on here...  ; - )

Ah yes, he was the Chris Moyles of Runner's World.

I haven't noticed a change in the number or frequency of spam threads, the odd one pops up and gets deleted if not immediately then within a few hours. Things have improved a lot since the spam wombles were put on the case

I miss the Chinese mattress spam.....

Good to see Ben RW on the ball as always.

Says someone with 4 posts to his name.

The spam patrol are usually along fairly quickly. They do a fine job and are unpaid volunteers unless I'm mistaken. So let's thank them instead of whingeing.

They have been getting rid of spam quite quickly since a few months ago when the forum almost got spammed into oblivion.

Having said that, I think the point being made is that with the right fix it could be stopped from getting through in the first place.

Who is to say that they aren't looking in to getting the right fix without consulting certain ex-forumites*?

Scream, that Pemmican looks horrific.

This is Pek:

Apparently, it's deliciously versatile hot or cold.

It's the sort of stuff that would survive a nuclear winter, but you still wouldn't be tempted to eat it even then.

@Dustin - feel free to volunteer to help. I don't get paid to clear it up, and I fit it in around other things, like work, sleep, and The Real World.

@Joseph Preston - when you work out how to stop all spam automatically, patent the idea and license the technology.  Thanks for not posting the link to the spam, though.  I enjoy wasting my time clicking through pages to find it so that your otherwise empty and pititful life is easier.  As for shooting the messenger, if the messenger provided any useful information he/she wouldn't get shot.

This must be what it's like working on a support desk: "My computer's broken."  Can you fix it?"  I have no fucking idea - why do you think it's broken?  What are the symptoms?  Give me information up-front, don't make me piss about chasing you for information.

I report plenty of spam which stays on for days.  If I report it to RW, why don't they remove it?

So why don't RW engage one?

Because they don't value the site and they don't value the users.

Waccy Racer. You need to get over your obsession with DF3. Is there anyone you don't think is him?

17/05/2013 at 11:05

Maybe Waccy is actually DF3 too and it's all a double bluff!

Hi All,

I recieve mod reports for spam and always delete the threads as soon as I get it in. We cannot watch the forums 24/7 but do our best.

Well JP seems to be a very rational, sensible poster

for the moment.

Annie, do you consider people advertising race places for sale to be spam?

I report those, but they stay on the forum.
